Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Fast-paced & easy to read. A very enjoyable novel!
Review: While it may not be the most thought-provoking piece of literature you'll read, Wil's Bones provides a engaging look at how the world would be affected if Jesus' bones really were discovered. The character detail isn't too deep, and the story premise and love story are basic, but on the whole it is very effective, and I'm looking forward to reading Kevin Bowen's next novel, if he ever does write one.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: All of the wheat, none of the chaff.
Review: Wil's Bones has a fast moving plot that pulls you in and doesn't let you go until the last page is turned. It is somewhat predictable but the historical and religious aspects are well researched and very provocative. The central characters are well developed with an undeniable aura of realism, though some of the names (Kenny Reno? Royal Lawrence?) could have used a bit more (or maybe a bit less) thought. The book is a quick read and would be suitable even for younger readers.

Summary: Faith put to the test
Review: Wil's Bones is a somewhat disturbing and thought provoking book, pitting political intrigue against fundamental Christian beliefs. Dr. Wilson's goal in life is to prove his dead alcoholic and abusive father's relgious beliefs to be a sham. Wil's apparent triumph sets wheels in motion that could lead to incomprehensible world wide changes and his death. A cat and mouse game ensues with Wil trying to stay alive while seeking answers to deep secrets. The book is a fast read with several sub-plots tossed in, including a romance. What ever your beliefs, this book will make you think.
