Rating: Summary: One Star for Great Fiction Review: Ms. Vanzant's "Truth Postulates" are quite lovely, and may even seem liberating; in fact, they may appeal to many who consider themselves Christians. However they directly oppose the truth postulates found in the Bible, which has proven to be the best-selling book of all time. Ms. Vanzant has gleaned ideas from many different religions which worship what the Bible refers to as "fasle gods" (this includes the worship of "self"), combining all the concepts she likes, and discarding the rest. How convenient. It's too bad that doesn't work in REAL life. You, the reader, must decide for yourself what is Truth. Whether you know it or not, your very life depends on it. If you do not compare what Ms. Vanzant says with what the Bible says, you will be omitting the Source of truth which is being read all over the world by people who are excited to discover a loving God, the Creator of the universe, Who is described in detail in its pages. Don't buy Ms. Vanzant's philosophy hook, line and sinker. Rather, do your own research to discover which is the counterfeit. In the meantime, beware of opening yourself up wide to any and every "new" philosophy that SOUNDS good. Lots of things which are really bad for us sound very, very good.
Rating: Summary: Honey, it changed my entire life! Review: Saw Iyanla on Oprah one afternoon. I am a 64 year old Jewishgrandmother. This woman's ability to connect with your innermostthoughts was awesome. Bought 2 of her books. Started the above. The idea that this divine woman of color whose life was so different from mine could strike a cord so deeply in me that I just danced around the kitchen in my bathrobe, painted my toenails, made a meatloaf, kissed my husband of 42 year on his nose numerous times bablling how much I loved him and that was on a day I was not taking Prozac. Geeez! Since then I read, hilite passages, keep the journals and have found the Divine who had been hiding from me for a while. I have watched her each time she is on TV and I am just enchanted with her abilities and especially that it is wrapped in humor. A soul is a gift to be polished in a timely manner so it can be returned to God in better condition than it was received. Lady, you gave me a cloth and a big bottle of Pledge and I am eternally grateful....and am getting really cute in my old age and am going out today to buy shoes! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!XXXXXX

Rating: Summary: Extremely inspirational, insightful and helpful! Review: This is one of those rare books that truly helped me identify all of the key areas that I needed to work on in order to grow toward a really fulfilling, joyful and spiritual life in all of my relationships. She has a real gift in clearly pointing out how to address all of these specific areas with great examples too. It was especially helpful with key areas where I was struggling for better balance. Most important benefit was enhancing my spiritual life, helping me to clearly understand my purpose in life and what to focus on to stay on the path. I highly recommend this book, especially for women who are juggling so many facets in their lives and looking for a more fulfilling and meaningful life!
Rating: Summary: her books are great, this is no exception. love it Review: Yesterday i cried, was so beautiful and inspiration for me. this audio of book, is doing the same. i quit feeling sorry for myself and instead will work out my problems on me. i love watching her and listening to her voice. glad i got the audio. i'm still on tape one. there are 2 tapes, it's about 3 hrs long. i will do the steps as soon as i finish listening to both of her tapes. many years ago Shakti gawain also helped me in the place i was and i still continue to read her, but iyanla has given me a newer fresher outlook, a deeper spirtural outlook. this is the third of her books i have read. my daughter in law has in the meantime, and yesterday i cried, but hasn't read them yet. i guess i feel everyone should feel the same way about her books as i do. she was in oakland oct 9, 1999, but being a minister i had a wedding to do that day, so i couldn't see her. maybe someday. she doesn't bs anyone, straight from the hip, no fancy stuff. read or listen to her if you can.
