Rating: Summary: Excellent Read Review: I've read all of Lincoln and Child's books and this one by far is the best. The non-stop action and page turning plots leads you through the book in a matter of hours. It was very hard to put down. The overall excitement of this archeological expedition actually makes you feel like you're a part of it. I recommend this to all who want a page turning thriller.
Rating: Summary: A disappointment compared to previous books Review: I have loved these authors previous books, and since I also love the country of southeast Utah, I thought Thunderhead would be a perfect book for me. Instead, I found the story and characters to be superficial, and in some places started reading quickly to get to the "good parts." I'm sorry, but it comes nowhere near to Mount Dragon in being an absorbing story, and it misses the creepiness that Tony Hillerman is able to put in his mysteries. Compared to their previous books, this was "TV movie" quality. So guys, please, return to your roots for the next book.
Rating: Summary: Good but they can do better! Review: This was another great read from this unbelievable duo but it wasn't up to the standard of Mount Dragon or Riptide. I felt a bit of disappointment with the ease with which the team found the city and wondered what could come next with so much of the book to go. Lincoln Preston are developing a formulaic strategy to their writing and I'm kind of hoping that their next one suprises me with a different set of characters i.e No heroine. Great read still!
Rating: Summary: THUNDERHEAD Review: THE PRESTON/CHILD TEAM DID IT AGAIN! THEY'VE WRITTEN ANOTHER "CAN'T PUT DOWN" THRILLER. THIS TIME IT'S ABOUT NORA KELLY- A WOMEN SEARCHING FOR HER FATHER'S PAST. THIS IS A GREAT BOOK- ONE OF THE AUTHORS BEST. I ALSO RECOMMEND PRESTON/CHILD'S OTHER FOUR BOOKS (RELIC, MOUNT DRAGON, RELQUARY, RIPTIDE) I CAN'T WAIT TILL "THE ICE LIMIT' (BOOK NUMBER 6) COMES OUT! BUY "THUNDERHEAD" TODAY- THEN START A GREAT JOURNEY!
Rating: Summary: Thunderhead Review: This is the most exciting book I have ever read. I love archaeology and the book draws you into the world of archaeology. The main character, Nora, is a very strong, intelligent and beautiful woman. It is refreshing to have the main character who possesses all these traits be a woman. I was so drawn into this book that it was difficult to go on with my life until I finished it. Read it and enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Their best effort to date! Review: I enjoyed Relic and Reliquary and I absolutely loved Riptide. Then there's Thunderhead! What a fantastic story.Preston & Child offer an interesting and reasonable explanation of what happened to the Anasazi and why no one has had much luck locating Quivira, the legendary lost city of gold! The characters were very well developed and the appearance of Bill Smithback (the reporter \ novelist from RELIC and RELIQUARY) was a pleasant surprise. Keep up the good work, guys!
Rating: Summary: MASTERS OF A GOOD ADVENTURE Review: These two guys contuine to do it time and again. DP and LC have written a powerful adventure story. It is worth the money. I would say this about the book, that it is one socko thriller and is nearly impossible to put down. I can't wait for their next book called THE ICE LIMIT this July.
Rating: Summary: Their best ever! ....well almost :) Review: First I need to say that I've been an avid fan of D.P. and L.C. since the Relic. I own the first HC edition of all their books AND a paperback copy (or two)of each, for travel purposes. Although I've enjoyed all their books, I never thought they would write a book to rival the Relic, I was wrong. Thunderhead goes beyond expectations and delivers an intriguing and fast-paced punch. With another incredible combination of humor, detailed storyline and palpable characters you get pulled right in. I've read the Relic about twenty times, without exageration and Reliquary almost the same. When Thunderhead came out I was in a slump, so to speak, and it alone pulled me out (yeah, I know it sounds corny, but give me a break! I'm a bookaholic). Oh, by the way, if you really loved the Relic & Reliquary you are in for a real treat here.....
Rating: Summary: Thunderhead Review: Thunderhead is a great book. It's very exciting and always keeps you on the edge of your seat! It is fairly accurate historically, and gives great facts about the Anasazi Indians, their artifacts, and their legends.
Rating: Summary: A good read - and no Relic Clone Review: I read this because I loved all the previous books by the authors. Given the blurb I was concerned that the book would be a copy of the story from the Relic, which it most definately was not. While the characters were slightly cartoonish, I was left guessing for quite awhile just what was going on and who was involved. The setting was great. If you are interested in the Anasazi or the Southwest, you should find it entertaining.
