Rating: Summary: Bull Run Review: I think the book Bull Run is a great book for upper elementary. I enjoyed the book Bull Run beacause it shares the opinions of 12 different characters I also enjoyed it because it was a fight between the North and the SouthI think the book Bull Run compares a lot with Civil War books. Bull Run is different than other books because it has a persons perspectives from the north and the south. 12 people likea woman, a general and a african american. Bull Run takes place in 1860 in the Civil War days. One of my favorite characters was Toby Boyce because he is a brave drummer boy and a lot of courage. I think the important message was depending on what role you have. There were a lot of roles. All the roles showed that war is made of people each one with there own story. I think the noval by Paul Fleischam was a great book.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful book of the Civil War! Review: I think this is a great book for older elementary and younger junior high kids. If you enjoy reading historical fiction, you should really like this. I read it first in fourth grade and it was one of the books we read in sixth grade. I would still be willing to read it again! It makes great historical references to the Civil War. It won't take too long to read, but it is a good book.
Rating: Summary: 12 year old homeschooler Review: I thought Bull Run was pretty good. One thing I didn't like about it though was it was all broken up into peices.Once I got into a story it would just stop a quarter of the way. Then would start again a couple more pages into the book.It got confusing at times. But there was alot of things I did like about the book.
Rating: Summary: Good book with exciting stories from fiction soldiers. Review: I would recommend this book to anyone who likes civil war and action
Rating: Summary: Bull Run Review: My book is Bull Run. It's a historical fiction book about the United States Civil War and the first battle of the bloodiest war in American history - "The Battle at Bull Run". The facts are real, but the characters in the story are not. The reason you should read this book is because you can learn more about the Civil War. Plus, the characters made you know what is felt like during the Civil War if you were either black or white.
Rating: Summary: Outstanding Civil War book for parents and kids. Review: My mom and I read this book together and we both enjoyed it. We liked the humor and the way the characters intertwined. It was a fun way to learn American history.
Rating: Summary: Bull Run Review: The Bull Run is a very interesting book.It shares the thoughts of all of the men who fought in the war and there feelings of them.It tells who all of the people are that shared there information about what was going on.It also tell about the women who helped out all of the men who got injured, and how they were telling what was going on and how scared they were when the other enemy was coming. It helps you understand about how nervous ans scared you would be in the heat of a battle. Within the story all of the people in the book are explaing the trouble's they went through. It is about the people that thought that they might die cause they were scared that they might be killed, but who wouldn't be scared. This book proves to you how you can feel when you are scared you are to lose your life.
Rating: Summary: A good book Review: The title of the book I read is Bull Run by Paul Fleischman. The setting is in the 1860's in Virginia, the battle of Bull Run. There are twelve main characters two examples are Toby and Gideon. Toby is young and likes drums he also wants to be in the war. Gideon was afraid to come out and say who he was and the color of his skin because he was afraid of being killed. The theme of Bull Run is to show peoples perspectives on how they felt. Some of the people were afraid to say who and what they are, while others are perfectly fine with saying who and what they are. My opinion of the book is I thought it was a fairly good book. At times it was sad but yet it could have been good at times because when family members found out that other family members were all right. It made me change my mind on how the war really was. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes reading about wars and History. I would also like to recommend this book to anyone who likes to read about peoples perspectives and to the lower and higher reading levels. This book was short and sweet and doesn't take very long to read.
Rating: Summary: Bull Run Review: The title of this book is Bull Run by Paul Fleischman. This book took place during the Civial War of Virgina in 1860. There were 12 characters in this book but there were no real main characters. Two of the characters were Gideon Adams and Toby Boyce, Gideon Adams is a colored adult wanting to be a soldier but had to hide his race for it to happen. Toby Boyce is a young white boy about 10, also wanting to be a soldier in the war but had to be a drummer instead. The theme that it gives is that everyone has a role in something depending on their age or gendar, some exampels are Toby Boyce and Gideon Adams. Two other books that remind me of this book are Writing & Fighting the Cival War and Eye Of The Storm. I liked this book because of its character form and how they describe things extrordinarily good. My opinons of this book are, it was exciting, excellent description of words and events, also suberb characters. I would recommend this book to people who would like to learn about past wars and would want to know how it felt to be in a war. That is my book review of Bull Run.
Rating: Summary: BULL RUN Review: This book in my opinion was a very good. It has many characters that have different prespectives of the war. Toby Boyce is a young boy who would do anything to get to kill a Yankee. Gideon Adams is an African American man who makes himself look caucasian to fight in the Civil War. The book takes place in Bull Run,Virginia thats full of Southerners who hate the North. They are always talking about how they will show no mercy to them Yanks. The Yankees also talk about how the Southerners have no class or respect. This book has drama, heartache, action and very well done story lines for the many characters. I would only recommend this book to adults and junior high students because the book has many sophisticated words. Overall I give the book Five stars.
