Summary: A page turner
Review: This was a totally realistic book about a junior high school clique. Popular Candace and her followers have turned against Maya, a former member of the group. What has Maya done to deserve this? Most of the group, including Maya, doesn't even know. The book just pulls you into this world where social status is important and fragile. You keep turning pages to see what will happen next. I read it in a few hours.

Summary: The Girls
Review: young adult
This is your average group of girls with their own little group with the leader, follower, and the rest...The leader in this group is Candace, the girl with the perfect everything, she has perfect teeth, perfect family, and the most adorable little siblings. Then there's Darcy, the follower of Candace. She's always in the shadow of Candace and is Candace's personal tag-along that does all of Candace's dirty work, and of course...the rest of them. They are the girls that are neither follower nor leader, the "just hanging around" people. These girls are Maya, Renee, and Brianna. Unfortunately there is always the one girl in every group that becomes the victom of the leader. In this case it's Maya. Nobody really knows why Candace really hates or doesn't like her anymore. It all started when Darcy had a sleepover and Mya wasn't invited because Candace didn't want her to come. Maya was devastated and she didn't know why Candace didn't like her anymore which made her all the more confused. Because Candace didn't like Maya anymore nobody else did either. After that things went downhill for everyone. Brianna was the next victom for saying that Renee's animal would most likely be an elephant. Renee really liked Maya and Brianna and so after Brianna got kicked out Renee decided to go with them. The only remaining people were Darcy and Candace, the leader and the follower. Then came Nicole, the girl that always admired Candace and wanted to be in the group. Fortunately for her she was "chosen" to be in Candace's group and she saw how Darcy was annoying Candace and she vowed to get rid of her for Candace because she "deserved it."
I really liked this book because it shows how a group of girls' lives are in this world...especially at school. I also like it because instead of chapters it's in a journal type form about what each girl is thinking and what they are feeling about the situation they're in.
My favorite part in this book was when Renee,Brianna, and Maya got together. When Renee chose to go with Brianna and Maya it showed that although she is a quiet person she knows the difference between the friends that use you and the friends that are true to you and that have been nice to you by doing what others never thought about doing.
