Summary: Put yourself in their shoes...
Review: This is a typical "put yourself in their shoes" -type of a book, in which the author tries to question everyman's morality - how much can you do to survive yourself? Very much, seems to be Smith's answer, but he also tells us that these deeds leave their tracks, tracks that time won't wash away. A thinking man's thriller, I would call this book; it certainly had suspense and was a quick read. What it lacked was perhaps some really original or amazing perspective at human behaviour, but in its own category, the book was more than good enough.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A Great Thriller!
Review: To me, the best suspense novels are those that one cannot predict the ending to. I guarantee that this one will keep you guessing as to "what will happen next" to the very end. If the movie is half this good (I haven't seen it) I will definitely rent it.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: great book, they couldn't have made the movie without it
Review: I had forgotten I had read this book. When we rented the movie, I became increasingly sure that it was something I had seen before. I saw the movie with my brother and the two of us began revealing developments to each other that convinced us both that we had read the book. That the screenwriters followed the book so carefully [rare these days] is a tribute to Mr. Scott's prose. The vivid images it conjured had convinced two of us that we had already seen a movie that we were both watching for the first time.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: This book will make you question yourself
Review: This is one heck of a book. After reading it, I put myself in the brothers' shoes & asked myself what I would do in that situation. And I still don't really know what I'd do. I've read it twice & it is better the second time.

Summary: Excellence
Review: In a country, or world for that matter, when it seems that most most people want to read a book and have the story laid out for them, no thinking involved, Scott Smith dicarded that notion and proceeded to write the most horrifying and true to life book that I have ever read. In a Simple Plan, Smith spends a little time developing the characters, yet doesn't seem to spell out every aspect of their nuiances either. By doing this, he forces the reader to join in, and be the other half of the brain for all of the charcters. As the events in the novel start to turn, many people complained that it was too predictable; however, could the predictabilty just be the reader putting himself in the character, and then knowing what he would do next. In my eyes, and mind, I believe Scott Smith has the talent, imagination, and writing skills to surpass the likes of Thomas Harris and Stephen King in the literary world. Though Harris and King are masters of the "scare" by using genius serial killers and strange phenomenah; Smith succeeds by using the most frightening object known to man: emotions, decisions, and the human brain. I am telling everyone out there to buy this book, it is a definate must read. And while you are reading it, ask yourself, "What would you do?" And one more thing,Be honest when you answer the question.

Summary: Great story but the violence is disturbing
Review: Scott wrote a great book that I read in two days and is reccomended to anyone who likes a good and quick read. However, the violence tends to be very gratuitous and is verydisturbing. Halfway, you will read about several violent murders and a cover-up. Thought-provoking and moving yet frightening and disturbing.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Disturbing
Review: This book gave me a stomach ache every time I sat down to read it. It was very disturbing to me to read about supposedly ordinary people committing such violent acts. I think I would have felt better about it, had common sense taken hold of the characters.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A HELL OF A THRILLER
Review: SCOTT If you have the chance to read this you have my biggest congratulation for this book, I could not keep my eyes off it. I read it in the bus, in the bathroom, in the bed (no matter the light!!), a great entertainment for a thriller fan like me CONGRATULATIONS I AM WAITING FOR YOUR NEXT ONE EAGERLY

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: READ THIS BOOK!
Review: The bottom line on the debut from author Scott Smith is that he has created a top-notch book. All of the characters are ordinary people and the premise that they find themselves in is real and believable. Anyone who liked the grisly Silence of the Lambs or Red Dragon should read this book.

Rating: 5 stars
