Rating: Summary: You are INSANE if you haven't read this novel yet!!! Review: "Message from 'Nam" has got to be one of the most outstanding, dramatic, rollercoaster, love novels I've ever read. I cant believe I used up almost a whole box of tissue when reading this book. The real thing about it is that I could just about relate to the main character Paxton Andrews...now that is one emmotionally strong woman. Being involved with people in the military is also a rollercoaster ride sometimes, but you do what you gotta do right? If you haven't read this book, READ IT.... You'll LOVE it!!
Rating: Summary: Memorable Character and Story Review: As I am D.S. fun, I absolutely loved reading this book. Though I have read several other books, this one was the best of all. I guess because I found so many similarities with this main character Paxton and me, such as interests and family background. She is so young and enthusiastic. I also cried three times. 1. when her first boyfriend passed away by accident. 2. How merciful Paxton is to care his second deceased boyfriend and try not to spread information to his wife overseas. 3. when her co-worker's lover and her child commit suicide for hopeless future. The book was so inspirational that it made me think to go overseas to find truth as a journalist.

Rating: Summary: Steel At Her Best--Not Just Fluff Review: Danielle Steel lately has been, well, a bit disappointing. Now this novel a la the early 90's has grist and is something one can sink their teeth into. A look of 'Nam through central character's (Paxton Andrews) opened idylic eyes as a reporter during seven years in Saigon--is steel!Yes, there is death, love, torture, horrors of war and a cast of characters we want to know personally. My favorite part of this book was the description and action in the infamous Vietnamese tunnels. Bill Quinn, a love interest, is on his 4th tour of duty as captain of the tunnel rats--finding, fighting, escaping from 'neath a matrix ravaged earth. This is Ms. Steel at her best. Well researched, plotted, intricately meshed characters and a fulfilling novel.
Rating: Summary: An AMAZING story you will not be able to put down!!! Review: I finally finished my horrible summer reading (boring!), so I thought I'd pick up a novel by my favorite author Danielle Steel for fun. I had seen the tv movie for this book, so I was skeptical about actually reading it, but the movie was so good, I thought I'd give the book a shot. And, let me tell you, it was SO wonderful. Sure, some of it is over-the-top, but, for me, that's what Danielle Steel is about. You can read about other people's struggles to get away from your own for a while. I've read a lot of her books, but this one was the best by far. The story was touching, the characters were great. There was nothing about this book that I didn't like. I ordered the movie, and I cannot wait for it to get here, so I can watch it on the big screen! This is a definite must read for anyone who likes anything Romance related!
Rating: Summary: A great way to change your perspective of life........ Review: I first read this book when I was 19yrs old, at that age you think that you own the world and that life is there for your taking. After reading Message from Nam, my total outlook of life changed, the feelings that the book brought out in me changed drastically, life was no longer fun fun fun, the book touched me in many ways. The characters are potrayed in a very realistic way which was quite a surprise since I feel that in some of DS books character reality is lacking. Paxton Andrews shows us what I am sure lots of girls her age had to go through when growing up in the era prior and following the Vietnam war - letting go of someone you love, and then making the full turn to find love again. The journey made to Vietnam, the pain of losing your loved one and the recovery of finding love again that Paxton makes in order to get to the end, is both fascinating and heart renching, the book never left me until I had turned the last page. I had a sorrowful smile on my lips when I put the book down, leaving me with many feelings. Feelings of gratitude and contentment that Paxton had finally found what she was looking for but at the same time sad that she had to lose so much to get there. Before reading Message from Nam reading was just something to do when I was bored, now it has become a addiction, I now read at least five - eight books a month (I am now a mother and full time employee - I always make time to read though !). Thanks Danielle for making me grow up ......
