Summary: Disappointed
Review: I've read some of her other books and really enjoyed her writing style. I picked up a copy of her book a few days ago, and am really disappointed with her lastest work. There is no chemistry between the hero and heroine. I just couldn't care less if they got together in the end or not. I think she also referred to the Venza society or something regarding Venza on almost every page. It got to the point where everytime I saw the word I was rolling my eyes. I usually finish a book the same day I start. With this book I have no interest in finding out what happens at the end. Don't waste your money on this one.

Summary: She's a good author.... really she is... I swear
Review: You just can't tell from reading the past several books (of any of the lines). The first 7 or 8 Amanda Quick books are top of the line romances. And then something happened - and the writing went from extrodinarily good to mediocre to flat out awful. Admittedly, Wicked Widow isn't the worst of the lot. But it is so dull and so repetitive that it isn't really worth reading. This one is just I Thee Wed all over again. The book has the same annoying plot device (for those who have read the books, I thought nothing could be worse than the mystical land of "Zamar"... apparently, I hadn't read anything yet) Vanza. Instead of character or plot or story line or dialogue, she gives us odd half glimpses into a badly conceived martial art philosophy that apparently drives everything and precludes the need to do actual writing. This was a bad choice. Buying the hardback would have been an even worse one. Buy the old books - wait for the next.

Summary: AQ--Very dependable!
Review: I've read all and re-read many of AQ's books and WW is firmly in the middle of the pack. Not as good as the first 5-6 (loved Scandal and Rendezvous) but much better than the subpar With this Ring and I Thee Wed. Still, with all of the derivative and half-hearted Regency out there, I will always buy AQ and know I'll get a quality story and wonderful entertainment. Only problem is . . . why can't she write as fast as Nora?!

Summary: Wicked Widow
Review: Wicked Widow was wonderful. It had just enough thriller to keep me reading. It was another good book in a line of great books. It is really worth purchasing. The wicked widow is rumored just "wicked" enough in her past to be truly interesting. I love how Quick's characters are never "perfect" in appearance and temperament. They are no gods and goddess here on downer earth but real people with great attributes and great weaknesses. Read up!

Summary: Another mass production Amanda Quick novel
Review: Amanda Quick - please start writing again. Stop getting out the master copy, changing the names and hair colors, and clicking "Print". Other Reviewers - I read with amazement reviews from those of you out there who find Amanda Quick's dialogue "witty" and "exceptional". Any author who uses the phrases "bloody" and "bloody hell" up to 5 times on one page is not witty. The adjective you're looking for is "repetitive" - just like the plots of her last 3 books.

Summary: Disapointing. Recylcing of kown elements from Amana Quick
Review: Quite disapointing. I normally love Amanda Quick's novels. They are a rare example for intellegent, well written love stories. Even ever using the same kind of characters (intellegent, independent, exentric heroine and dark, phsycollogically blessed hero) and in some way a similar plot, Amanda Quick (I would give most of her novels 5 stars) normally manages to vary the story and the characters in an enjoyable way. Normally her characters are interesting and individualistic, the dialogues funny and the plot full of suspense. None of this in Wicked Widow. The hero seeks for reveange (as usual) and has a tragic past, the heroine is not quite as exentric as usual. They come together to find a villain. Fine. But there is no fire when they meet. Apparently they are mutually attracted, because at some moment they sleep together. But there is no discription, no inner monologue the reader can follow to understand why they would fall in love. They finally do. In the ( few) romantic scenes between Madelaine and Artemis the autour seems to have taken parts of her other books and put them together, even the words seem very familiar, there is no imaginiation. I hope the next Quick novel will show more invention and some of its old charm.

Review: I think Amanda Quick has run out of story. By reading few pages of this book, I can guess the rest of the story. I think this book has all the combination of the last few books she wrote, you can find the similarity.

Review: The hero and heroine of Wicked Widow are clones of the same characters in her last book. Only the names have been changed. Amanda Quick's former witty style is missing. So is the romantic element, almost entirely. While I liked her last book more, despite the invention of an imaginary secret society called Vanza, in this book the Vanza element is so silly and annoying it spoiled the book for me. Can't her heros be competent without help and goofy secret arts? Quick can write good books when she wants to--this just isn't one of them. Maybe she's tired of being Amanda Quick. And why does the misleading author picture continue to appear on her covers? I've seen her and heard her speak, and that picture is either 30 years old or of someone else. There is nothing wrong with the way she looks now, and her publisher should call for an update.

Review: I REALLY LOVE AMANDA QUICK'S EARLY BOOKS BUT HER NEWER BOOKS ARE JUST AWFUL AND I WANT TO LIKE THEM! WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH THIS VANZA? THIS BOOK HAS AWFUL WRITING AND PLOT! I AM SO SORRY TO LOSE A FAVORITE AUTHOR! I GUESS I WILL HAVE TO GO BACK TO HER OLDER TITLES TO ENJOY! SHE WROTE MASTERPIECES THEN!!:0)

Summary: Not up to her usual standards
Review: As a rabid fan of Amanda Quick, when this book first came out, I was eager to get it. Once I started reading however, it was quickly apparent that this was not going to as good as her previous books. The plotline was weak, and I didn't particularly like the characters. Artemis was too dark and Madeline was too flaky. Tried as she might, I just couldn't get into this book. If you want to start reading Amanda Quick, start with 'With This Ring' and 'I Thee Wed', they are her best. Hopefully the next one will be better.
