Summary: Light yet meaningful
Review: I greatly enjoyed this wonderful read. I picked it up due to its interesting title and couldn't put it down until I had read the last page. It is a light read with depth in every chapter. I laughed out loud at the dry humor and nodded in agreement at the challenges single women find in the world of dating today. I was pleasently surprised with the pleasure I found in this book. It would be a great book for a weekend trip.

Summary: OK
Review: This book is hard to put down. It is an emotional type of book, mostly about feelings of Jane. May men would deem it a "woman's book." It is a very "chic" type book - about a single, wealthy girl to woman and her life with men, work and her feelings.

Summary: Great!
Review: I think this book was wonderful. As I was reading, there were certain passages that actually made me laugh out loud. There are a range of voices within the book, from the sly, sarcastic musings of a teenage Jane to the vulnerable, aching Jane who is facing her father's terminal illness. This remains a favorite book for me, I have re-read it many times and it continues to be fresh and intelligent.

Summary: Not what you'd expect
Review: Interesting but annoying at the same time. The book jumps around and different characters lives are hinted at in various chapters, but it was sort of hard to figure out where Jane was in her life. Is she 12, is she 32? You never knew. I was sort of disappointed but I finished it in a week...I cannot get through Poisonwood Bible in three months.

Summary: Very Disappointed
Review: I was extremely board one day at work, so I thought I would walk down to the bookstore (I work in the Mall! how perfect!) I searched the shelves for about 15 minutes.. and this one jumped out at me. It looked great - the reviews seemed good, and even the first few pages got me into the story. I went back to my office and started in! I read for a little while and just kept getting more and more disappointed by the minute. It became irritating to read due to the tense changes and charecters, that had potential to pop out of the book, but never quite made it -- There were chapters that seemed not to belong in this book at all, and if they were to serve some other purpose than me saying "Huh?", they failed miserably. Jane's choice of men don't exactly strike me as a great read either. I really expected more from her charecter. Not to say that there weren't any good points in this book, other people obviously got them, just look at the other reviews. But for me, if i could take back the book and get my [...] 8 hours spent reading it, I would.

Summary: Good, But Not Great
Review: Melissa Bank, as an author, obviously has a lot to say but The Girls' Guide To Hunting And Fishing, as a novel, is pretty weak. Yes, the book has some pretty insightful observations about human nature and the nineties woman's train of thought, and yes, it does have some pretty funny moments but I can't help feeling like the reading level for this book is "Young Adult". Overrated.

Summary: Very witty and moving read...
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I have shared it with most of my friends as well. The stories are poignant but have a great humor to them. Very quick read, but not because you are skimming to get to the end, it's because you won't be able to put the book down until you know what happens to these memorable and familiar-feeling characters. I promise that you will find something you wouldn't expect to identify with in this book.

Summary: Bad, bad, bad and even worse
Review: Words cannot describe how much I hated this book. I had so been looking forward to reading it, having read review after glowing review on how great it was. Melissa Bank must have juicy info that she's blackmailing the literary world with to even get this book published, let alone garner such favorable reviews. She writes poorly and flatly, doing nothing to develop the characters or even paint an initial picture of them. I usually am able to visualize the characters, their mannerisms, and the scenes when I read a well-written novel. This one gave me nothing. Absolutely nothing aside from annoyance with the story and the paper cutout she used for characters. The only interesting part of the book was a chapter that related to absolutely nothing else--it seemed like a chapter from another book was mistakenly printed in this one. Do yourself a favor and waste neither your time or your money on this pathetic attempt at cool-chick writing. I just wanted to pass in my overies after reading this garbage.

Summary: so true
Review: As a single thirty something woman, I completely identified with this book. It is Jane's journey to find love and ultimately herself. It is about becoming comfortable in your own skin, learning the sometimes brutal truth about yourself and those that you love. I read an article once that described finding true love as finding someone that makes your life easier and more fun. At the close of the novel I think Jane finds this and I was thrilled for her.

Summary: J.D. Sallinger inspired...
Review: I think readers who read this book and thought it too "light" or "cute", did not understand the depth to this book! I bet the same was said about Catcher in the Rye...
