Rating: Summary: A great outline-now where is the book? Review: What a disapointment! As an outline it is great but where is all of the wonderful detail for which this author is known? Save your money.
Rating: Summary: A big disappointment Review: I have read every one of J. McNaughts books and was disappointed with Night Whispers. The story line was good, but it was rushed. It was as though she was in a hurry to finish it. I was especially let down at the end where Sloan apologizes to Noah - she pours her heart out to him and all he does is pull the covers on the bed down and unbuttons his shirt! What's up with that? I wanted to see Noah accept Sloans apology, more dialogue was needed at this point. Hopefully, McNaught will not do this to her devoted readers again! I like a scene to end, not just fade out.

The action-packed story line is a tender triumph that will leave readers awed by the awesome author's immense abilities. The characters are warm and charming, and will long be remembered when the audience thinks of romantic suspense. Ms. McNaught is returning to her usual spot on the New York Times best seller list with this deserved tale. Harriet Klausner
Rating: Summary: Judith McNaught's Best Contemporary Yet Review: Night Whispers is fantastic! I first became a fan of Ms. McNaught's work through her historical romances. Until this book, I believed that her historical romances were better than her contemporary ones. Night Whispers kept me guessing about the motivations and loyalties of most of the characters until the final chapters of the book. Night Whispers is also the rare romantic suspense novel where the intrigue and the romance are deftly balanced. A great read, well worth purchasing in hardcover. Now to find a man for Courtney...
Rating: Summary: Another winner Review: I was very moved by this book. Judith McNaught has a very special way of making her characters come alive. I highly recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: Judith McNaught's Night Whispers is D-I-V-I-N-E Review: This book was absolutely a great read. It was very suspenseful, but the suspense didn't ever take away from the romance between Sloan and Noah. Noah, in a departure from JM's usual style of hero, comes from an absolutely fabulous family, and you really come to love them. Sloan shares a wonderful friendship with a woman named Sara - i felt as if we were revisiting Lisa and Meredith in some ways. You who love JM solely for the fabulous fashions found in her novels shan't be disappointed... And you who love JM solely for sex scenes might... but you who love JM for her humor will find that here in abundance. All in all - you won't be disappointed... There isn't pages and pages of sappy stuff, the way I might have liked, but I liked the hero and heroine so much I didn't notice
Rating: Summary: Disappointing Review: Perhaps I was expecting too much, but I had a hard time finding the willpower to finish this book. The plot was more centered on police procedure and thrill/mystery elements, which are not what I read Judith McNaught for. She should stick to the well-developed characters and romance which were once her trademark.
Rating: Summary: Could have been better... Review: I'm a big fan of Judith. I love her stories and her male characters. However, this story left me a little disappointed.
I enjoyed the plot and was very pleasantly surprised when I realized that good old FBI agent Paul Richardson had a closure after his appearance in "Perfect". I just wish the author could've given us a little bit more about his relationship with Paris. The Susan/Jessup relationship was another let down. I was very enthus about them in the beginning and hugely disappointed when nothing else was mentioned about them as a couple. It seems to me that with the exceptioh of Sloan, Noah and Courtney, the rest of the characters were not given a chance to fully develop.
Rating: Summary: somewhat disappointed. Review: I was so excited to read McNaught's new novel Night Whispers, yet was somewhat disappointed after I finished the book. Although McNaught decided to change scenery to a more modern time period from her previous novels and her ideas and characters were kind of the same (debutante coming out for the modern "ton"), this novel was missing something... I think McNaught's flaw was having too many characters. Night Whispers has more suspense than romance, the protagonist isn't concentrated on much because of all the other characters in the novel. I was disappointed, I wanted more ROMANCE! Hence, the reason the book falls under the romance section in the library and McNaught being a romance author... Anyways, I expected Paul and Sloan to be together since the novel started with the two of them, don't know where the other characters suddenly came from. I just couldn't fall in love with Noah because the two lovers weren't concentrated on much. Overall, I give McNaught credit for trying something new. The book was good, just not phenomenal like her first novel, Whitney, my love.
Rating: Summary: 2.5 stars - inconsistent with reality... Review: This would have been a great story except for some fatal flaws that left me scratching my head thinking, "Where the heck was the editor on this one?" first of all, Sloan Reynolds is a cop who was recently on television and in newspapers following a daring rescue of a toddler down a well. And the people of Palm Beach, who live only an hour away, haven't heard of her or seen her on the tube? Highly unlikely absolutely NO ONE would have recognized her. Highly unlikely that her father would NOT have done a background check on her before she came. Some of the police procedures were off the mark. And the epilogue fell far short of drawing everythiing together. Where was Sloan? Was she still a cop? What happened with her relationship with Paul, now her brother in law? What happened to Sloan's father? What was the final outcome of all that undercover work? What were the repercussions to the Reynolds name and business interests?
Too many unanswered questions. It's too bad, too, because the characters were likeable - except Noah, who really curled my fists sometimes with his view on marriage and children and casual relationships. Of course you grudgingly fall for him like Sloan.
