Summary: Surprised I didn't like it.
Review: I bought Fannie Flagg's other books. I'm glad I got this from the library. However, I am eagely waiting for her next book.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Getting better as it goes on.
Review: The story has a strong start, and gets better as more characters come in to play. Although a littler predictable, over all the story was very heart warming and intriguing to read. The writing style was much like Fried Green Tomatoes, each chapter was told from a different characters view point. I reccomend this book, especially if you have read a book from Fannie Flagg in the past and enjoyed her writing.

Summary: I loved this book!
Review: What an amazing book! I have read all three of Fannie Flagg's novels and they are all wonderful, but Welcome to the World, Baby Girl! is so different from her other two. Less funny than Daisy Fay, but definitely more engaging. I read this almost-500-page book in 6 days, it was that engrossing. Loved the mystery about Dena's missing mother and the slimy tabloid reporter stuff. Kudos, Ms. Flagg, for yet another fantastic read!

Summary: Entertaining start, disapointing ending.
Review: I loved Fried Green Tomatoes and although this book wasn't quite as wonderful, I couldn't put it down. However the ending was a disapointment, it seemed as if the author need to tidy everything up quickly without much thought or depth. A very entertaining read for fans.

Summary: Cliched characters and a dragged out plot
Review: Like many other reviewers, I loved "Daisy" and expected better from this book. It's hard to warm up to a main character who refuses to enjoy the many advantages in her life (beauty, talent, success, wealth, popularity)."Baby Girl" is the type of person we'd all want to shake in real life. In this book however, people can't stop falling all over themselves to do things for her (unappreciated I might add). I didn't find it especially funny, but the nostalgic sections did appeal and were very well done. Maybe it's a reflection of the author's southern heritage, but did she really have to supply "Baby Girl" with a thinly disguised "mammy"? Would it have hurt the book if her psychiatrist had been tall, thin, Black and beautiful instead of an overweight Black woman who goes way beyond a professional attachment to her patient?

Summary: Great book!
Review: This is definitely Fannie Flagg's best book yet. It was thoroughly enjoyable - she is great at capturing the "homeyness" of her Midwestern characters. This is one of those books you will want to finish!!

Summary: Unputdownable
Review: I bought "Welcome to the World, Baby Girl" for a friend, but the moment I glanced at the first page I couldn't stop reading. It has not only a great portrayal of characters but also lots of suspense. You want to keep reading to know how the book is going to end, but at the same time you don't want to finish because you really enjoy what you're reading. I would recommend this book to anybody.

Summary: One dimensional characters and simplistic plot
Review: This novel tries to take on a large issue but does it with one dimensional characters, who for the most part are sickeningly sweet. I found this novel insulting to my intelligence

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: A great Fanny Flagg, wondeful reading
Review: There is something quite unique about the way Fanny Flagg writes. She is truly wonderful. I wish she'd write more often. I can always empethize with her characters.I love reading about small American towns in the 30's and 40's.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Enjoyable
Review: When I first start this book, it was pretty slow going. Eeventually, though, I really got into it and enjoyed reading it. It was a typical Fannie Flagg book, in that the characters were very life like and you could really see them in your minds eye! I hope that she will come out with a sequel to this book so that we can see how Baby Girl is doing with her radio show and the people that she invites on to her show!!
