Summary: A winner!
Review: Fried Green Tomatoes being one of my all-time favorite books - and Daisy Mae right up there too - I approached this book with caution - having been told "it's not like her other ones". Well, it isn't like her other ones but it's still a good read! I really enjoyed exploring the puzzle of Dena's life and all the characters were just great. Don't hesitate to read this one!

Summary: Absolutely Wonderful
Review: This book was great, I found I could not put it down. The characters were well developed and the story line was interesting. It was a bit of a mystery also. You feel the characters' pain, joy and relief. I loved it. It was a mix of small town and big city and how lives can merge together.

Summary: why did we wait
Review: It took a long while for Flagg to come up with this but what was the thinking or doing about during the time we waited? This is superficial, contrived, poorly pieced and as poorly stitched together as writing can be.

Summary: Enjoyable, but disappointing...
Review: I've only ever read "Fried Green Tomatoes" by Flagg, but I found this book to be disappointing. Although some of the characters and plot situations were clever, the novel itself was not too fascinating, and the ending was a little silly. Certainly check this book out of the library, but I can't say it's worth purchasing.

Summary: Does not rival Daisy Fay or Fried Green Tomatoes
Review: Having read her other two books, this one was a disappointment because I was expecting the same humor and wit. I struggled with the relevancy of all the flashbacks. Also, there is little mention of her love life in the first half of the book; even if she had no serious lover, she had the beauty and fit the age to at least warrant some installments discussing love, I think. Fannie, please bring back some of those great exclamations like "Rats foot!" And tell us once again of an other half falling into a vat of lacquer.

Summary: So-So
Review: This book was worth the read but it's not one that I think is going to stick with me for a long time. It's somewhat superficial but it is entertaining. I mean, how many beautiful, slim, intelligent, rich, successful, but oh-so-misunderstood heroines can I relate to one in one lifetime? That is, if I'm not a big fan of romance-type novels? I like the small town twist though. In the end, they live happily ever after in a white house, with a big front porch and they have lots of money. Just like real life, right?

Summary: Baby Girl Opens The Heart
Review: Wow. Welcome to the World Baby Girl is an extremely heart-warming novel that should make us all take a look at our relationships with ourselves and others. Dena Nordstrom, completely focused on a successful career, blocks out any part of her past or family ties. It isn't until she becomes deathly ill that she goes back to her hometown and begins to reevaluate her life. She begins a search for her mother that turns up tragic in order for her mother to be able to save Dena the hurt and despair of having to deal with society's ignorance and cruelty. I think Fannie Flagg hit the nail on the head with this novel. It shows us that fame and money isn't all that life is about. Without family and heritage, we would be empty, worthless souls. I recomend this book to anyone looking for a book that will open up their hearts to someone who, deep down inside only needed someone to share hers with. Love is a fabulous thing. The history of this novel is also very intruiging. Flagg jumps through history without confusing her readers. This is a fabulous book!

Summary: Wow!
Review: I was expecting a book about a child, instead I was transformed into one eagerly anticipating the next pages and chapters. This book was wonderful; I had a difficult time putting it down. The main character, Dena, is so vulnerable you can't help but have your heart go out to her. The twist near the end made for a very satisfying experience. Kudos Fannie -- you've come a long way from "Match Game." You gotta read this book!

Summary: Thoroughly delightful and enjoyable
Review: The title of the book is somewhat misleading. Think of Deborah Norville or Katie Couric having a deep dark secret - and that's more what you'll get from this book. I was amazed to find that I couldn't put this book down - just a good, entertaining yarn - with a bit of a mystery - lots of nice people - a book to be passed along just for the enjoyment of it.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Wonderful, but limited
Review: The story revolves around Dena, an outwardly tough and ambitious girl - your typical modern day carrer woman by appearance, but inwardly vulnerable and lonely. She longed for something but the problem was, she did not know what she lacked and refused to let others get close to her to help her find out what it was. Written in a lively style, the book has full of adorable characters. The story was able to make me engrossed to follow Dena's ups and downs, rooting for her and symapathise with her. The only problem was, it failed to touch me and sadden me in areas which I felt is should - the part on Dena's mother and her brother. I failed to empathize with these 2 characters as I feel that I do not know them in-depth, the way I knew Dena. In fact, the only character that I knwe in-depth is Dena. I felt that the other characters were not given enough development for me to know and feel them.
