Rating: Summary: Arthur steals Muffy's party and spoils her parents' plans Review: Arthur and Muffy schedule parties for the same day and invite the same people. Muffy's parents have put time and money into organising a party for her. Nevertheless it is presented as a splendid idea that Muffy be tricked into coming to Arthur's party, despite the lack of consideration shown for Muffy's parents' wishes.
Rating: Summary: Great For a Birthday Reading Lesson Review: I am a student teacher and think this book can be used as part of a K-2nd grade reading lesson. Children can relate to the topic and make predictions throughout the story. The colorful illustrations will keep children attentive. Arthur is having a birthday party and a conflict arises between him and Muffy. Arthur comes up with a great solution to the problem. The only part of the story that I thought was inappropriate for children was the gift that Francine bought for Arthur and wanted to play with right away at the end.

Rating: Summary: Suprise Birthday Review: I really like the book Arthur's Birthday because I liked when Arthur figured out what to do when Muffy and his birthday are on the same day. He was kind and knew what he was doing.
Rating: Summary: It's cute Review: I've started reading Arthur's books to my sons and they love the colorful pictures in the book. The storyline is cute ~~ nothing spectular or exciting. Arthur invites everyone to his birthday party only to find out one of his friends, Muffy, has her birthday party the same day. Arthur decided to surprise Muffy by hosting the party at his house and all ends well. It's a cute story though I am not quite sure about "Spin the Bottle" gift at the end. That may be a little too old for 8 year olds. But it's not offensive or anything ~~ it's just a cute story about birthday parties. 1-12-04
Rating: Summary: Inappropriate content for age Review: My daugther loves Arthur and Birthdays, so I bought the book. We were reading along and came to the end where Francine gives Arthurs his gift and asks that he "use it right away". On the last page you see the opened gift -- a bottle with "Francine's Spin the Bottle Game" written on it. I thought this completely inappropriate for the age of reader. So,unless you're not bothered by the sexual reference in your child's reading materials, buy it.
Rating: Summary: A nice, soft toy and colorful book. Review: This is the same story as on the TV series, wherein Arthur's birthday is on the same day as Muffy's and both want to have their parties at the same time. The fact that it's the same as on the TV show can work to your advantage in that kids know the story, whether you read it aloud or they read it to you. It gives them confidence in knowing some of what's going to happen. The colorful illustrations are fun to follow along with. The Arthur doll is soft and huggable with "glasses" that are sewn onto the washable body. The doll makes a nice prop if you're reading out loud to a small group.
Rating: Summary: Arthur's Birthday Review: This was a really good book. My favorite part was when Muffy came through the door and everybody came out of their hiding spots and shouted surprise! I recomend this book to you.
Rating: Summary: THIS IS FUNNY, A BOOK THAT IS INTERESTING TO READ. Review: TWO CHARACTERS, MUFFY AND ARTHUR, ARE HAVING THEIR BIRTHDAY PARTIES ON THE SAME DAY. THEIR FRIENDS HAD TO CHOOSE WHICH PARTY TO GO TO. ARTHUR AND FRANCINE SOLVED THE PROBLEM BY INVITING MUFFY TO A SURPRISE PARTY AT ARTHUR'S HOUSE. THIS COULD REALLY HAPPEN IN REAL LIFE. MARC BROWN FOUND A FUN WAY TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A GOOD BOOK. OUR CLASS REALLY ENJOYED READING IT. WE LOVED THE PICTURES AND HAD FUN TRYING TO LOCATE TOLON, TUCKER, AND ELIZA'S NAMES IN THE ILLUSTRATIONS. "WE SHOULD TELL OTHERS ABOUT ARTHUR'S BIRTHDAY BECAUSE MARC BROWN WROTE A GREAT BOOK." MRS. Rating: Summary: My boys like this, I find it unfinished! Review: We have this book, as well as a CD-ROM version, and have also seen this episode on TV. My boys like all versions, but I am bothered with every reading or playing by the fact that nothing really explains what happens to Muffy's party---supposedly the rock band and the clown have been booked for weeks, but somehow this all seems forgotten once Muffy is tricked into coming to Arthur's house to join his party. Is the plan that Arthur and Francine come up with simply to trick Muffy into not going to her own party? My husband says I read too much into a simple story, but I think kid's books should make sense. I do have to admit this troubling plot confusion has never bothered my boys a single bit!
