Summary: Awesome Understanding of Low Self-Esteem
Review: The fact that this book ended up in my hands might have been the luckiest thing that ever happened to me. The complete understanding on the subject of low self-esteem contained in this book is unreal. Having been in therapy for almost 3 months because of the pain of living life with extremely low self-esteem ... the knowledge i've gained from this book would have taken years of therapy to learn from within myself. When i began to read it ... by page 60 i could not believe how precise Dr. Sorensen's description of how life is and what happens to those suffering with low self-esteem. I found the books coverage of self defeating behavior and sabotaging relationships to be extremely helpful. With this book i gain a complete understanding of low self-esteem which is crucial because in order to make the major changes i need to make in life i have to clearly understand what is wrong and what needs changed. Thanks to Dr. Sorensen i now know exactly what needs changed and how to end the pain .... I also know exactly where to concentrate my therapists attention.

Summary: right on tartget with incarcerated population
Review: There are a ton of "self help" books on the market today. Many of them are'nt worth reading, because they contain little more than common sense information. This book is different. Dr. Sorensen truly knows her subject matter. What's more, she is also passionate about her work and genuinely interested in helping others feel better about themselves. Most important, this book offers realistic prospects for success. Dr. Sorensen doesn't promise such things as "eternal bliss" (Wayne Dyer) or "unlimited power" (Tony Robbins). Instead, she explains that increasing self esteem is a gradual process that requires time and energy to produce tangible results. The books's "things to do" sections help the reader to achieve these results.

I have recommended Dr. Sorensen's book to a number of my clients whose self esteem needs strengthening. They have endorsed it enthusiastically and so do I. It is one of the best self help books on the market today.

Summary: A Life Changing Experience
Review: THIS BOOK CHANGED MY LIFE.When I began reading it, I started to realize that many of the conditions described mirror my life. Dr. Sorensen outlines a course of action to gradually raise your self-esteem. I began following all of the recommendations 3 months ago and I can truthfully say that my self-esteem has been raised significantly. I am now socializing with people, making friends, living happily by myself and recovering from a codependency condtion that has plagued me for my entire life. This book is easy to read and understand and accurately describes the problem and provides solutions that really work. I recommend this book to anyone who suffers from depression and low self-esteem.

Summary: Outstanding Book
Review: This book has changed my life. By reading the passages and thoughtfully completing the exercises I learned how and when I developed my low self-esteem, how to recognize the destructive behaviors I display that prevent me from having the loving and successful life I desire. And most importantly, how to change those behaviors. This is a must-have book for anyone who suffers with low self-esteem.

Summary: Good Information...
Review: This book has some helpful insights, and the author seems to know what she's doing. You'll have to overlook the less-than-perfect presentation, though. There are some problems with the editorial work; typos are abundant and the attempt to avoid sexist writing is inconsistent and confusing. A new edition, please!

Summary: absolutely the best self-help book I have ever read
Review: This book is an absolute must-read for EVERYONE. For those with low self-esteem (LSE) it explains exactly what LSE is, how you got it, and what you can do about it. You will learn that you are not alone and that LSE is a common problem and that there are a lot of people who are suffering from the same pain, anger, and hurt that you are. I have LSE and I was completely amazed when I read this book. I thought that if men were from Mars and women were from Venus, that I must be from Pluto. I felt as if I was completely alone in the world and that nobody understood anything I was going through. I was shocked as I read through this book and realized how much the author truly understood LSE and exactly how it has been negatively affecting my life. As I read through the various examples in the book I was just floored by how accurately the examples mirrored so many things that have happened in my own life. This book will not only benefit those with LSE, but also people with healthy self-esteem because reading this book will enable you to spot the signs of LSE in others so that you can be better prepared to comfort and deal with the person who has LSE. This book talks about how LSE is far too often misdiagnosed as depression, social anxiety disorder, or some other mental problem. So many people who have LSE are misdiagnosed and consequently put on drugs which only mask the symptoms of the problem, rather than addressing the core problem directly. I highly recommend this book to everyone, especially those with LSE. The author has a very clear and easy to understand writing style and you will be amazed at the insight and understanding the author has in regards to LSE. If you're like me, once you read the first page you won't be able to put this book down. For those with LSE I also highly recommend getting the workbook that goes along as a companion to the book.

The book also guides individuals through the process of identifying the root of their LSE. This book includes excercises to help increase self-love and acceptance.
