Rating: Summary: The Best Book Ever!!!!!!!! Review: This book was so great, i couldn't put it down. I reread the book 3 times
Rating: Summary: Not so bad as all that... Review: I have to disagree with those who accuse Ms. Bradley of "demonizing her enemies"... or even if she does, then there's no need to take it so seriously. People bridle at this as if she's making a mockery of something that actually happened, and as I see it, she's only looking at a very fictional story in her own way. Actually, I didn't encounter anywhere in the story a place where she "demonizes" Christians in any way, she simply seems to be pointing out how bigoted people are about religion... "I am right, and you are not, therefore you will either bow down to me or go to hell". People, this book isn't a political commentary, but a work of fiction and should be treated as such. The story itself is wonderful.
Rating: Summary: Magnificent, a must-read. Review: After the first chapter, I could not put the book down. I was totally pulled in by the story. It is kind of like a soap opera set in Arthurian times. I felt all these different feelings towards the characters - hate, love, disgust.. If you are a fan of fantasy and of women being the main characters in books, you should definitely read this.
Rating: Summary: Beautifully Written Review: The book was excellent, but there was no pull for more. I did not finish it, to end up looking for a sequel. I enjoyed Mary Stewart's Merlin trilogy better.
Rating: Summary: Beautiful, moving, magnificent... Review: I truly believe this is the best book I have ever read. It is certainly my favorite! It is beautifully crafted and the story is wonderful. The characters seem alive and real, and their struggles are heartbreaking and uplifting at once. Marion Zimmer Bradley has created a true masterpiece; throughout the book I felt what the characters felt, from extreme joy to sorrow. Do not miss out on this book!!
Rating: Summary: An amazing Arthurian novel. Absolutly fantasic! Review: This is probably one of the best books I've ever read. I don't normlly enjoy Arthuian books but I found it amazing to read this book. Told from the point of Arthurs sister, lover, and succesor of the Lady of the Lake Morgaine, and his Christian wife Gwenhwyfar, who both struggle for more power for their religion through him without any success. It's absolutly spellbinding! It's an excelant for all ages young and old.
Rating: Summary: Really a great new perspective, I loved it! Review: This is my favorite book, it takes a look @ Arthurian legend thru the eyes of Morgain Le Faye. It gives a very different perspective on the taboos and restrictions of catholicism, and paganism, and demonstrates womens' place in the power struggle of family and state politics. A very empowering book. Definitely worth reading more than once!
Rating: Summary: "The Mists of Avalon" is a rare find. Review: This book is one of the best that I have ever read. I am an avid reader of Aurthurian legend, and this is one of the best books on it by far. The book is mostly written in the 3rd person, yet there are segments in which Morgaine Le Fay speaks. Thoughts of many of the other characters is also included in the novel.
Rating: Summary: A read that can change your view of all that you as truth. Review: I have never become part of a book the way that I did with this one. Through Morgaine, Vivaine, and even Gwynhwyfar, my view of what I thought as Truth was completely changed. It caused me to question all that I know, all I have always seen as black and white for myself, and consider another facet. I came to realize that we have no place to judge the actions of others, as we were not standing in their shoes at that moment in time. Even my view of what we think of as Religion was changed. A true growing experience when read with an open mind.
Rating: Summary: A truly great read Review: I've read lots of books, but this one is the best I've ever read! Marion Zimmer Bradley is a genius, this book made me cry, it kept me on edge the whole way through. I think this is MZB's best book yet, I loved it!
