Review: I was very impressed by this story. It was the firts Authurian story I've ever read from a womans point of view. I don't think I've ever been more impressed by a story of this sort.

Review: This was the first really long book that I ever read, and it made me want to come back for more. I have enjoyed all of MZB's books, and I hope that she continues in the vein of Arthurian retelling in the future.

Review: The first time i read this book i was literally amazed. i could not put it down. as i read i quickly felt myself slipping into morgaine's character and then i let myself be taken away into the realm of the goddess. i enjoyed this book so much i read it again right after i finished it. this is a must read.

Review: Amazing. Spell-binding. Inspiring. Whimsical. Down-to-earth. Moral. Real. Fantasy. SPIRITUAL! The absolute best novel ever. And I say that as a literature fan and a history major. Anyone who does not see the story, the depth, the character, the ingenuity, or the moral of this story learned nothing in school. This book is what every parent attempts to teach their child. Morgainne's growth as a person is what inspires this novel. The faults of all the characters prove the shallowness and wastefulness of bigotry. Bradley is amazing in her writing and her imagination is to be envied. Read and learn. And those of you who do not like it, please, reconsider, reread, and learn.

Summary: Magical and realistic
Review: This novel provides a whole new outlook on Arthurian legends. Instead of the glorified heroes and weak damsels we see heroes with faults and damsels with back bones. The book presents a female point of view without overdoing it. It is not the "feminazi" type novel people can make it out to be. Instead it presents people as human - with all the faults that come along with being human. No one is glorified, no one goes without pain, and no one is perfect by far. The author transports you to a time and place that never really exist but, by the time you leave, you wish you could be there forever.

Review: I LOVED this book, but I also understand that you can understand it only if you are open-minded. I am only 17, and I believe that you miss the whole point if you think that the book was about worshiping goddesses. Morgaine herself realized that it did not matter what form you depict the divine. So I urge you to read this thought proviking book, and see that it is not just about Christianity versus Druids, but that only through our imperfections we limit that which is holy to a certain religion. THINK ABOUT IT, IF ALL THOSE CONSIDERED GREAT BY DIFFERENT RELIGIONS WERE TO BE IN THE SAME ROOM TOGETHER THERE WOULD BE PERFECT HARMONY, BECAUSE TRUTH IS NOT LIMITED BY INTERPRETATIONS, IT JUST IS.

Summary: A wonderful story that deals with timeless issues and ideas
Review: This is a wonderful modern classic. It is very readable, but beautifully written in an older style of wording that puts the reader into the "atmosphere". It has a lot of themes and ideas, so much so that I enjoyed reading it for the second time as much the first. It has everything: passion, unfufilled desires, religious debate and controversy, assimilation, issues of individuality vs. social coventions, adventure, politics, issues of sexuality, feminism, family relationships, ambition, love... The characters are all mulitdimensional and believable while at the same time larger than life. I recommend that the reader read the prequels: Forest House and The Lady of the Lake which gives the history of some of the characters mentioned in the Mists of Avalon and causes the reader to have a deeper understanding and connection with the Mists of Avalon. The Mists of Avalon shows how great civilizations, cultures and religions reached their peaks and downfalls.

Review: When my friend first told me to read this book, I thought she was nuts, but when I started to read it, I couldn't put it down, and I've read it four times since.

Review: after 20 pages of describing the sun set, i gave it up. I found this book boring, having chosen to (try and) read it due to the high praise from family members. I found her "witchlight" (etc)series to be much more interesting.

Summary: Terrific with details, flows nicely together.
Review: This book is one of the only Aurthirian books I've read, yet I loved the way it shows a transition from the Old Ways to Christianity. It shows how brutal it was, the fights, the wars. Overall an awesome book!
