You should say something about the book if u really want to contribute something. Otherwise u'r comments look like u r proof reading reader's comments, not the book. I am talking about a guy who commented on a reader's english.
Rating: Summary: Aug 9th reviewer needs to work on grammar, vocabulary Review: Look at the "reader from India" review of Aug 9th. He states that Gates is, "...the greatesthuman to ever don the earth." I don't really understand what he's trying to say, but I hope his Oracle and SQL skills are better than his writing skills. And I hope he has a proofreader to check his programming documentation.
Rating: Summary: Accurate predictions, but.... Review: Considering that this book was written in 1995, the predictions he made are quite remarkable in their prophecy. It would have been even more impressive if he had forewarned us that his software would control all of the desktop PCs in the world, and therefore his company would forever be producing overpriced cr-p that doesn't work the way it's supposed to, and there wouldn't be a da-n thing that anybody could do about it, because he's got all the money. And besides producing cr-p, all of his 'software engineers' would be overpaid egomaniacs who would not be capable of providing any useful technical support over the phone, so they would implement one of those totally useless and frustrating automated answering systems that would keep you on the phone for over an hour, and finally provide no useful information. That would have been some useful information. But other than that, I was truly impressed with his thoughts on the superhighway. Nice job.
Rating: Summary: Personal insight to the growth of the cyber-man. Review: But the cdrom doesn't work. Bootstrp causes a fatal error. The technical assistance number on the cd's instruction is no longer in service. But, call MS and after a 12 min wait you'll get another tech assist number which is also not in service. MS or Gates needs to get out an advisory to all. --Jerry Varela
Rating: Summary: a fantastic book Review: BILL IS THE GREATEST HUMENBEING TO EVER DON THIS EART
Rating: Summary: CD ROM is extraordinary, book is a mere shadow. Review: This effort illustrates the future of publishing, I would hope. I will definitely pay extra for the multimedia CD experience. The book is just the multimedia text, and comes across as bland when read alone. The CD is a rich multi-media experience that was an enjoyable trek through my past (I've been a software developer since the 60's) and gives strong glimpses of the future I'm currently involved in making happen.
Rating: Summary: Nice thoughts about the future! But ? Review: I liked the book but! I think it was way to simplistic about the way the internet will be used? Sure it will be good in a lot of good ways! But the human race needs to adapt and grow with it like a proverbal children with a new toy. The net will indeed be great!
Rating: Summary: Good treatment for insomnia Review: Better than a glass of warm milk for taking a nice snooze. This book is completely boring.
Rating: Summary: ObliGATEd to respond Review: It's rough being a billionaire. It makes others play free and loose with criticism. My hat's not off but I'm not wielding a cattle prod either. Bill Gates has a right to be somewhat proud of his accomplishments. His writing is straightforward and the tone makers him seem, so...well, normal! He says himself, this book was written to stimulate a dialog. I challenge The Merciless Critics to take him up on it and WRITE A BETTER ONE. I liked being told what I might expect in the future concerning the information highway because the evolution is taking place NOW as we approach the turn of the century.
Rating: Summary: Please! This book is terrible! Review: Bill Gates may have money but he certainly does not have an interesting book! If your out there Bill...your book is extremely dull!
