Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Surprisingly Good
Review: A well written account of sensible technology solutions for the next several years. Devoid of jargon and technobabble, Gates clearly sets forth the basics that make up the technical landscape that is presenting itself. A must read to those who haven't yet bought into the Internet hype and want to understand it in non-technical terms

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Very well written for both the beginner and hacker.
Review: The time Gates spent on this updated version may have cost him plenty but was well worth it. An overview of what lays ahead from a man with real innervision. The included CD contains all of the text as well as electronic footnotes, videos and more. A great value.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Slow & tedious
Review: I found Bill Gate's book to be slow, condescending, self-serving, and tedious. Yet, for some reason, I read through it to the end. I learned nothing and was grateful to be done with it

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Is it over yet?
Review: Has bill ever had a vision beside his bank account? He is an industry leader only by default. Where is his great software? Excel? Word? Mac-rip-offs like windows1895? Not. Read about Jobs or Skulley instead, at least they had (you know whats)

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Non-technical look at Gates' view of the near future
Review: Most useful as a look at the distillation of Gates' thinking about the computer industry. Recent paperback revision is more up to date on the Web and Internet issues. Gates is a student of the industry, with a keen mind. He is in the inner circles that are creating next generation programs and hardware. Interesting (but not thrilling) to share his insights

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Excellent vision on what the future holds for all of us.
Review: Good reading to really understand what is currently happening with the Internet and what the future holds for us. It is enlightning to get the view point of Bill Gates because of his excellent knowledge of all aspects of the computer industry. He is certaintly in a better position than most to expound on the future of the Internet. Well worth the time for people who are into the Internet and where it might take us.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Microsoft Informercial in Print!
Review: Bill Gates banters on for about 200 pages about his vision of the future. What Bill doesn't tell you is that 90% of Microsoft's successes come from acquisition and business savvy, not vision. I would not let Bill Gates mislead you with this book -- he is a srewd business man, but not a visionary. I'd skip this one.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Excellent vision of the future and how it may affect us.
Review: For those who can free themselves from the "Microsoft Bashing Syndrome", this book will prove to be a fascinating history of the past, present, and possible (or probable) future of the Internet. Not all of Gate's visions may come true concerning the directions it is likely to take and it's effect on our society; but it certainly gives the reader a springboard for their own thoughts. Written in easy-to-understand language by one of the major influences in the direction computers have taken us thus far

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: YOU WILL WORSHIP MICROSOFT
Review: That is the only message within this book. It only enlightens you as to what microsoft has to offer as opposed to what there is out there. It refuses to acknowledge that microsoft will not be everything to everyone. Endorses Windows 95, stupid advertising

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: waste of disk space/time/trees
Review: Lame....Microsoft advertising at its worst. No real value add. More of the Microsoft Network theory pre-Web enlightenment
