Summary: Add a Star if You are Listening to Unabridged Audio Version
Review: Sheldon uses his tried and true formula to produce a fast paced tale based on a true story. The plot hinges on the unraveling of a lovely computer graphics analyst working at a large Silicon Valley company --- someone is following her with the intent to kill her; she has no where to turn, her passive personality prevents her from speaking about her fears the her friends and her uncomfortable relationship with her famous heart surgeon father further defines her as someone who reacts rather than interacts. When Ashley suddenly finds herself as the prime suspect in a series of brutal sex-related murders, she discovers that the world she relied on is a fantasy and there are only two close friends that can help her recover her sense of reality.

I'll say no more about the plot -- to say more would ruin the reader's fun. As with other Sheldon novels, the author uses dialogue to move the story along at a quick pace. There are snappy courtroom scenes, revealing patient doctor sessions using hypnosis and other trademark techniques to keep you reading chapter after chapter until the last page. Although fun, don't expect Sheldon at the top of his game, the story, once the secret has been revealed becomes too familiar rather than formulaic. When reading a Sheldon novel, one expects and applauds his formula. I think the subject basis of this story has been over utilized by so many popular writers and recent money-grossing films. Hence, a slight lack of punch. Since the story is advertisized as based on a true story, I would have liked to have seen references to the actual facts listed in the back of the book rather than the lists of institutions and articles written on the subject itself.

I listened to the unabridged audio version of this book--and believe me it is just the type of story you want to be listening to as you mindlessly exercise. I found that the page turning characteristic of the story made me want to run further just to discover just what had happened at a particular junction in the plot. At times the narrator when playing Ashley is a little too naive---but her performances of the two other main characters are well done, accents and all.

Bottom line: predictable, but if you like Sheldon's fast-paced fun, give it a shot especially on audio-book. However, I would not recommend this for family listening.

Summary: Good Plot, Soap Opera Style Novel
Review: The simplicity and style of Sidney Sheldon works well in this book that deals with three very different women and how they are involved in a spate of killings. It is a quick read as the paragraphs are short and to the point.

Where I think the book is let down is in the characters who are sometimes simplified and are never fully developed very well as individuals because of the short paragraphs. The characters often resemble stereotypes with Ashleigh being weak and miserable, Toni feisty and rude, and Allette shy and blushing. However, this is still an absorbing read with a smart twist in the ending - it's worth reading for that alone.

As an Englishwoman I found the British woman's use of language jarring. She says things like `Buzz off' and `Ta ta' and drinks Pimms. When it was stated that she has a delightful British accent I choked up. Since when did a British person say `Ta ta' instead of `Bye'? To be honest it seemed to me to be an unfortunate although vaguely amusing stereotype that was over repeated.

Overall Tell Me Your Dreams is a good book. It can be read quickly and is entertaining. It has a soap opera style to it with all the main characters being young and beautiful and the dialogue certainly sounds a bit staged. This book is saved from being too flouncy and light-hearted by a super ending and a more complex second half when there are a few surprising revelations and new characters.

Summary: great layout
Review: This book kept me on my toes the whole time and had me surprised when I finally found who did what in the story. Sidney Sheldon has an awesome imagination and he knows how to write. I will read some more of his books when I get the chance, but right now I am still struggling to get through Sands of Time. Maybe it will get better as I get further into the book.

Summary: My favourite piece of Sidney
Review: This is the first Sheldon book I ever read, and maybe that's why it is the most special to me. The issue of multiple personality disorder has been something I have been interested in since I was little, and to read a piece of fiction based on truth was fascinating.

Unfortunately, I skipped and read the ending before I read the first few chapters, which is why the "shock" of the book was ruined for me - I recommend you read it from beginning to end and not skip around like I did!!!

Summary: Fasinating
Review: This book is a real graber from the first few pages. I didn't intend to read it, but couldn't put it down from the minute I started it till I finished it. Multiple personalities is something all of us have to some degree. Sheldon weaves this into his characters in such a way that becomes fasinating as we recognize fairly common but distinct personality types, perhaps that of our own at one time or another.

It's a fast read with a Sidney Sheldon surprise ending of course.

Get's you thinking.
