Summary: Get rich quick
Review: Isikoff first hypes the story and then writes a book. Sounds pretty much like he's on an egotistical rampage.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent, fast paced book,no "slow spots" hard to put down..
Review: This book gives a clear time line, I have found nowhere else. Watching Mr Isikoff on various news programs, I was always impressed with his integrity and thorougness. The outling of his methodolgy and dedication to "getting it right" clearly shows his impartiality. Must read book for those who enjoy the inner-workings of the press. Think Mr Isikoff has another book in just the other stories he has covered.

Summary: I could not put this one down
Review: This book puts the Jones, Willey, and Lewinsky events in perspective and in chronological order. Many of us kept up on the breaking news over the last year, but Mr. Isikoff assembles all the pieces of this puzzle. Some are pieces this avid" Hardball" watcher missed. Facinating...a must read.

Summary: Isikoff has found his purpose in life, I guess.
Review: In his many television appearances on the cnbc and msnbc babblefests, Isikoff's wonderfully nerdish and smug demeanor set him apart from the hundreds of other bibble-di-babblers that graced our sets over the last year or so. Now in his brilliant literary debut, the man who is credited with breaking the Lewinsky story, gives us the story in book form. As expected, "Uncovering Clinton" gives us absolutely no information that has not already been aired and pontificated upon in the thousands upon thousand of hours of airtime and the millions of news pages which have obsessed over this most overblown, uninteresting story in the history of humankind.

Isikoff, and indeed the world, owes an enormous debt of gratitude to Newsweek, the book publisher and all of the cable babble shows for giving Isikoff a reason to live.

Summary: THE INVESTIGATIVE REPORTER TALKS
Review: Any student of the Clinton Presidency or even someone who aspires to be a reporter must have this book in his or her library. It shows the business of investigative reporting in Washington in the 1990s.

Summary: Isikoff knows how to tell a story
Review: This is an utterly remarkable book. Isikoff knows so much about his story that he is able to assume the position of an omniscient narrator - generally the privilege only of someone who authors a work of fiction. The story he tells is, of course, a sordid one. Even so, Isikoff's dedication to truth seems genuine. This is a reporter without an ax to grind, an ideology to defend. His closing sentence is a gem!

Summary: Worth Reading Carefully (Has Some Enigmatic Comments)
Review: On page 113 of Uncovering Clinton by Mike Isikoff, he writes:

"I called Philip Weiss, a gadfly reporter for the New York Observer. We had spoken just a few weeks earlier. Weiss was doing a story on "Clinton Haters" for the New York Times Magazine, and he wanted to know why reporters like me didn't pay them much attention. Well, I told him, because I thought at bottom their theories were nutty. He didn't seem to like that and pressed me about some MINUTIAE [Emphasis Added] in the Vincent Foster case. I wondered whether the Times Magazine was really going to publish an article sympathetic to the "Foster was murdered" school of thinking."

This is the most enigmatic comment, among a number of such in the the book, that has come to my attention.

The New York Times Magazine article which Mike refers to above (a long cover article by Philip Weiss) later appeared in the 02/23/97 issue of the New York Times Magazine.

Although I had previously appeared on a media panel with Michael Isikoff and raised the same general issue with him that Philip Weiss did (see the brief extract quoted above), Mike's "minutiae" comment still perplexes me.

Those who are reading the book carefully and who would like to know more about 1) the "minutiae" that Michael Isikoff was referring to, 2) why Philip Weiss asked the question he did, and 3) why Philip reacted to Michael Isikoff's response in the manner above can obtain it gratis from me, if they wish.

Enjoy the book -- I think it merits a careful read.

Summary: Brilliant!!!
Review: An exceptional story of the Clinton Presidency written by a brilliant man. The most interesting character is Willa, about whom I hope we learn more in Mr. Isikoff's next book.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Uncovering Clinton and his enemies
Review: Michael Isikoff's excellent account of his investigation of Bill Clinton's conduct makes two things very clear:our Presdident's sexual pathology is even worse than we thought, and his enemies are just as despicable as he is.I read Andrew Morton's book on Monica Lewinsky, and feel even more sympathy for her now than I did before. Linda Tripp's actions, as recounted by Isikoff,a first-hand witness to them, make it clear the degree to which she orchestrated this whole legal nightmare, for political and financial motives.Of course, none of that changes the fact that Clinton is a sociopath.Isikoff uncovers both, the misogynistic, dishonest President and his sleazy, amoral enemies. Good work, Mike.

Summary: Riveting and Fascinating
Review: This is a fast-paced, brilliant, insider's look at the events that have shaped Clinton's presidency. No matter what your politics or opinion on his impeachment, this book will help you understand how and why it happened. This really is the definitive book on the Clinton scandals.
