Summary: I might have been less bored if i stared at the trees myself
Review: Maybe ol' Sid found some inner harmony by wondering around begging for food and staring at rivers, but what do I care. Excellent book if you want to learn about that culture, I suppose. Well written but hardly entertaining. I just get the feeling that Siddhartha should have settled down and earned his own food.

Summary: I recommend this book.
Review: If you want to read a short novel I definitely recommend reading Siddhartha by Herman Hesse. This novel tells about all the hardships that one man went through to find himself. Siddhartha was not happy until he found the true meaning of life. On his quest for knowledge Siddhartha learns the meaning of love both physically and emotionally. He also learns that life isn't something to be taken advantage of. This book is very toughing and it is easily understood. There aren't many twists and turns so it is easy to follow. Read Siddhartha!

Summary: a summary of the book Siddhartha by Herman Hesse
Review: This book is about a man named Siddhartha who seeks to find his "self" and then lose it. He wants to become wise and lose his foolishness that he has had since he was a kid. He leaves his village, listens momentarily to the Buddha, understands him, but not wishing to follow his ways, moves on. Siddhartha then comes upon another village, where he learns the art of love from Kamala, his female companion, and also the art of handling buisiness with the help of an old man named Kamaswami. He then realizes that he has thrown his life away to live upon riches and waste his life's intentions. As Siddhartha moves on, he encounters Vasudeva, a wise ferryman, who takes people across his lake, but is really a very wise and intellectual person. He influences Siddhartha, and Siddhartha finally becomes wise. He then takes over Vasudeva's job and meets his old friend Govinda. He tells Govinda about his journeys and how he ended up finding his wiseness and then he shares it with Govinda.

Summary: Siddhartha Review
Review: "Siddhartha," by Herman Hesse, is a wonderful book, vague enough to remain historically intact, and direct enough to make the reader the object of intense concentration.

Written in the existentialist style, Hesse uses a basic allegory to reveal truths. Through his prose, which almost seems like poetry, at times, he accomplishes an extraordinary feat not attempted since Dante's "Inferno." This accomplishment is spiritual revival, with no direct religious context.

There is an obvious paradox that Hesse surely intended. Throughout the book he tells of the fallacy of trusting in others for wisdom. However, young Siddhartha is lead down many fruitful and memorable paths by the strangers he encounters. In this paradox, Hesse is simply saying that people may guide us through points in life, but ultimately it is our own individual destinies that reveal the truth in the cyclytic universe.

Summary: One of my "Memorable Books"
Review: This book immediately came to mind as I looked back over the titles that influenced me most growing up. I plan to give it to my son now that he is "that age".

Summary: One of my personal favourites
Review: I've read Sidharta many times and every time I discover something new and inspiring. Worth experiencing it.

Summary: Mixed Bag
Review: I found a few segments of this novel inspiring. Such as the arts of fasting, patience, etc. On the other side, I found that Hermann Hesse allowed Siddharta to whine too much about past events.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: This book opened my heart and mind.
