Rating: Summary: The most inspiring novel I have ever read!!!! Review: When I read the last word on the last page of this book, I said to myself, "I am converting to Buddhism". And that's what I did. I have been touched with enlightenment every day of my life so far. If you haven't read this novel, do so now. It will change your life forever if you look deep into its' meaning. May the great Buddha smile upon you during your reading's. Om!
Rating: Summary: The Truest Lifepath Review: Siddhartha is about a man who finds the only real way to acheive enlightenment is by finding it for oneself on a unique personal journey. This book is about what religion should be and so often is not. A must-read for questing souls.
Rating: Summary: required reading Review: lol. i cant believe that dude from lodi had to read this book for his 11th grade honors class. i had to read this book for my -REGULAR- non-honors -NINTH- grade class.
Rating: Summary: Easily one of the best books I've ever read. Review: I have read this book four times and will read it again every couple of years. Each time I read it I take something new from the story. It's quite a short book, so take an hour or two aside and read it.
Rating: Summary: one of my favorites Review: I found this to be a really beautiful book, i often found myself stopping and really reflecting on all the ideas Hesse shows in the story. The writing style seems very simplistic, but manages to explain complicated and in dept concepts at the same time. There were many things i found to be true in this story, things such as knowledge can be taught or learned, but wisdom must be found through experiences and life. this is just a really beautiful story with many interesting and peaceful ideas being discussed. a very good book!
Rating: Summary: An enlightening book about finding you place Review: Siddhartha, make you feel stupid in a good way. You feel that you really aren't that good of a person. Siddhartha was a meaningful book.
Rating: Summary: Siddhartha Is A Beautiful Story, Start To Finish Review: Siddhartha is a beautiful story from start to finish! For the three hours'time the story runs on cassette tape, the listener is treated to a magical journey to the river of life as he or she accompanies Siddhartha, son of a wealthy Brahmin, and his lifelong friend, Govinda, on Siddhartha's search for enlightment. What is more is that there is just as much beauty in finding that one does not need to live a life of material wealth to find true happiness. I also found a certain beauty learning about the Buddhist religion, including nirvana, through Derek Jacobi's mellifluous reading, and that death is not an end to be feared, but rather a beginning to another life--a life in which we are free from pain, hunger, and thirst, because we know that these needs will be met. I would favorably suggest this book to anyone who is a fan of Derek Jacobi's work and wants a relaxing read for the summer months, too.
Rating: Summary: Breathtaking. Review: Quite simply, the most beautiful book I have ever read
Rating: Summary: I fell in love w/ German literature Review: This is one of the best books ever! Rosner's translation is seamless & Hesse's writing is divine. I can't praise this enough!
Rating: Summary: Interesting yet hard to understand. But overall good. Review: Siddhartha is very interesting but it is also hard to understand. Unless you are searching for truth like Siddhartha, this book may not interest you as much as if you were experiencing similar struggles. Fairly easy reading and you'll be glad you read it.
