Rating: Summary: Brilliant, mesmerising, unique Review: Having read numerous, highly recommended thrillers, I was pleasantly surprised to find that Buffa could write something that was actually original and impossible to put down. I even cancelled several appointments in order to finish this gem - with its many engaging twists and turns. Looking forward to reading the second Buffa/Antonelli novel. I'm two years behind, apparently...Hope Michelle recovers sufficiently to bask in the abundant devotion that Joseph is ready to offer her.
Rating: Summary: Good legal thriller Review: I agree with all of the positive comments of the reviewers below. The book is fast, interesting, the ending is predictable only if you predict 4 or 5 different endings. The only missing thing is that "sparkle" that makes the difference in reading a Grisham book, or maybe a Connelly book. So, the result is like someone wrote a book for Grisham, without having his personality, his captivating way to give real life to a story. This is a very good story, only told in a too flat way to be among the best.
Rating: Summary: I wish Joseph could have confronted the killer! Review: I enjoyed this book although I figured out the identity of the killer was pretty early on. I kept waiting for a confrontation, but it never happened. The judge was an interesting character and the references to philosophy were interesting.
Rating: Summary: HIDDEN IN THE LIBRARY Review: I found it by chance at the back of a dusty shelf in my village library. Hadnt been read for a long time. It was surprisingly well written: a clear, uncomplicated and crisp style. It told the story in an economical way which but a little wooden. One reviewer compared it unfavourably to a John Grisham, but it was BETTER than that! This had a lot of interesting twists and turns which were too far fetched, but hey...it's only a story. I did enjoy the cod philosophy and it set me thinking about the issues. The characters were well rounded and beleivable. The ending came too suddenly and because of this it lost its effect. Overall...I would recomend the book.
Rating: Summary: will hold your interest Review: i heard the taped version (full version, not abridged) and knew i liked it, in that i couldn't wait to get into my car to hear more . . . suspenseful and despite what some other readers have indicated, i did not find it all that predictable . . . also, i found the twists and turns interesting.
Rating: Summary: three interesting stories in one Review: I loved the complex story line twisting the three conected crimes. I found the fact that the Judge, prosecutor and defense attorney hung out chatting in the judge's chambers a little unbelievable. But to those unfamiliar with the ethical problems of off the record chats with Judge's, it probably would not matter. All in all a very good book that both my husband and I read non-stop and fought over to the last page.
Rating: Summary: Formulaic, ridiculously predictable "conclusion." Review: I ordered this book on the advice of the mystery book reviewer for Amazon.com. Not only does this tome sprawl needlessly over an extended timeframe, but the outcome is telegraphed well before the midpoint of the novel is reached. It was a major effort to summon the requisite strength to finish it! I couldn't recommend this book to anyone.
Rating: Summary: you'll never Guess the ending Review: I RATE THIS BOOK AMONG THE BEST I'VE READ AND IT IS NOT PREDICTABLE. THIS BOOK WAS GOOD FROM BEGINNING TO END. I READ THIS BOOK TWICE IN THE SAME YEAR, AND WAS NOT BORED EITHER TIME. IT QUESTIONS THE RIGHT THING TO DO AND THE MORAL THING TO DO AND SHOWS THE CONSEQUENCES OF NOT CARING ENOUGH TO DO THE RIGHT AND MORAL THING. IF YOU LIKE SUSPENCE, YOU WILL NOT BE SORRY.

Rating: Summary: Interesting and realistic Review: If you read this book you will find that the author leaves out boring areas between events. You will find a fast paced book that will keep you entertained. Realistic portrayol of society today... where everyone is more concerned with winning and money then doing what is right.
