Summary: An inside the beltway joke strewn tome which just misses
Review: Mr. Frankin's previous political book, Rush Limbaugh etc., was an insightful, funny and pointed work that made me anxious for his next. Why Not Me is funny and has a biting satirical wit but it lacks the focused direction the Limbaugh book demonstrated. Still it is well worth reading and there were moments when you laugh out loud.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Great looking; I really liked the fake Newsweek.
Review: Silly writing; I laughed a little. Somebody must've spent a lot of time working on all of those fake newspaper headlines. I'll bet Al Franken didn't do all of that stuff himself.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Al Franken is a self-absorbed idiot - and it's a riot!
Review: If you like politics and can see through the politicians' insincere statements and empty photo ops -- then you're on the same page as Franken, who plays it to the hilt as the latest character-less candidate playing politics just to get elected.

This book is much more than funny -- it's Franken shooting an arrow and hitting a bulls-eye at just how ridiculous politics has become in this country.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Better than "Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot...".
Review: While everyone else was reading WSJ, USA Today, and the in-flight magazine on airplanes during the last week, I was on my side laughing hysterically, tears in my eyes. My wife stopped reading "Beloved" because I was obviously having a better time than her. Al does a great job portraying a condescending womanizer in a manner that is still funny rather than coming across as simply a crude character. Makes me wish Al still covered the primaries.

Summary: Al Franken Rules!!
Review: I really enjoyed having a good belly laugh from this excellent political satire because the current situation in Washington D.C. is sooooooo depressing. Thanks Al!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Reads so quickly, it's like an audiobook!
Review: Al Franken has a knack for making his books read themselves for you. With a robust blend of lowbrow humor and Harvard-esque political jabs, one cannot help but wonder if Franken shouldn't be the 44th president of the USA!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Al Franken for President!
Review: This book should come with a warning sticker: May cause reader to harm self with excessive laughter. I laughed so hard at times I had to quit reading. Al Franken is a national treasure.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Damn good book -- Even the right-wing could like it!
Review: This was a lot of great fun to read. It's an overall smack at American Political process that even republicans that despised "Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot" should be able to appreciate, if they're open-minded enough. I seriously believe that people that did not find the book funny are too ignorant to get most of the jokes and the overall gimmick and/or just overwhelmed by their resentment of Franken for his last book, which is a shame.

This is a great piece of work that really makes you want to read on. Go for it!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Reasonably entertaining, with a good number of big laughs
Review: Like Franken's earlier book, this account of the Franken presidency has enough really good lines to make it worth the read. But also like his earlier book, there are long stretches that are only mildly amusing. I suspect this book may not play as well to those who have not watched enough TV punditry to recognize, say, Howard Fineman and Norm Ornstein. On the other hand, anyone who has ever read Newsweek shouldn't miss the (fake) Newsweek puff piece on Franken's campaign, which is priceless.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Right on political satire
Review: Al Franken scores again with Why Not Me?, a very funny parody of the post-Clinton political climate. Although the humor is uneven, sometimes crude though never offensive, there are some terrific zings in this book. I found myself laughing uncontrollably throughout. For anyone who enjoys political humor, this book is for you!
