Review: A friend rcommended this to me to help me deal with my "Adventures in Mothering." I thought it might be a bit too hard core in terms of religiosity for me. Happily for me, I bought it anyway and absolutely love it. I cried when I read the mother's prayer for a child with academic struggles since it stated my own worries so perfectly. I now begin my day with prayers that I have selected for each of my children from the book. It is encouraging, supportive and up-lifiting. The author shares her own not so perfect efforts to raise her not so perfect children. She reminds us that mothering will never be easy, but helps us to re-connect with the joy of it all. Most importantly, she reminds us of how we can and will get through it while doing right by our children.

Summary: Starts off strong, then goes downhill from there
Review: After hearing so many excellent reviews of this book, my Bible study group decided to base our study and discussion on this book and study guide. We're all parents of young kids, so we thought this would be perfect. At first, we were all interested and favorable about the material in the book....until we got past the first few chapters. The author makes a big deal about giving control of your life and your children to God, which we all agreed with. Then, she spends the rest of the book essentially giving God directions via prayer on every single aspect (and I mean EVERYTHING!) of her kids' lives. For example, instead of praying for her kids' safety, she would list off every possible thing bad that could happen to them in her prayer and pray that none of those things would happen. We were all surprised at the level of minutiae that she prayed about. It's almost as if she thinks if she doesn't specifically instruct Him on what to do, He won't know to do it. I guess our group gives Him a little more credit than that. We also felt that after the first couple of chapters, the rest of the book was just a rehash of the same stuff. It felt as if she was grasping to get enough material to make a whole book so that she can collect her $10 a copy. In most chapters, the prayer at the end of the chapter was longer than the chapter!The study guide was rather dull and did a poor job of promoting any group discussion or provoking any deep thoughts. Many questions were something like "Do you believe that prayer can have powerful changes in your life?". Well, who in a Christian group of people studying the Bible is going to say no?? So, everyone would respond "Yes" and then sit there looking at each other.....and this is a group that usually has very spirited discussions. We ended up pretty much ignoring the study guide in order to have any meaningful or interesting conversation. After struggling through several weeks of studying this book, my entire group unanimously decided to abandon it and choose a different author and book. While we're glad that there are people out there who have been inspired and helped by this book, none of us fit in that category. Anyone interested in some used copies? :)

Summary: Amen for Power of a Praying Parent
Review: As a mother with two young children growing up in a time when there seems to be more worries than when I was a child, I can only hope parents are praying. This book is inspirational and reminds me to pray especially when I least feel like it, but need it the most. Amen.

Summary: A "must have" for 1st time parents!
Review: First time parents experiencing the overwhelming fears of raising a child in today's world should not be without this book. I have found such incredible peace for the biggest worries and concerns. There isn't a more moving and applicable book for parenting -- prayer is the ONLY answer, and Stormie knows how to convince parents to start NOW!

Summary: The Power of a Praying Parent
Review: God is so awesome and He has declared the we will not be people without hope. I have only read, applied about half of this book to my daughter's life and already God has been faithful. Time is out for just saying 'we have got to pray'. It is time to pray. I praise God for the revelation of scriptures that had not touched my life before has come alive through this book and the prayers. I have started to pray the prayers with my husband and then seperately with my daughter because I wanted to let her know what I was saying to God on her behalf and that God was concern about every area of her life. The prayers are structured and so positive that I did not receive resistance but she received and has been encouraged to know that things that concerned her concerns God. God bless you Stormie for following the leading of the Holy Spirit to produce this help to parents. Parents, be encourage and remember, that God has promised that He will never leave us or forsake us.

Summary: Powerful Tool for Parents
Review: I am a grandparent who bought this book to read and pass on to my daughter, however, I found it so powerful that I have to keep it to refer to in the future and I will have to buy another to give to my daughter. I read and prayed through this book in one day. I could not put it down. I prayed for my grown daughter and her husband, myself and my grandchildren. It has prayers for everything, things we may not even realize we need to pray for. Who knows the far reaching effects our prayers may have--it is a wonderful tool for any parent or grandparent to own. God Bless you Stormie for your wonderful book.

Summary: I'm ordering at least 10 copies!
Review: I am a single mother of four, and this book has been my constant companion for the past five years. Prayer works, and Omartian's book gives parents the prayer tools they need to pray effectively for their children. I am ordering ten copies today and giving them away to friends and co-workers. I will continue to reorder and pass them out as long as I have parents to take them.

Review: I keep this book next to my bed near my bible and use it on a daily basis. This is a great book. In today's world every parent should be praying daily for their children. The prayers in this book give me the right words to use when asking for God's help. I now continue to buy copies of the book to share with my friends who are also raising children. We all need a little help at times.

Summary: A year later and God is still awesome.
Review: I purchased this book a year ago in March and I can not began to tell you how God has best our home. I don't think there is an area in our lives that have not be changed by pray. I have been blessed to see the hand of God work win my daughters live, to God be the glory. Parents, it is true that we do not have to leave our children's lives to change, but it can be controlled by the divine will and power of God. They can have Godly friends, they can have success in school, they can have good relationship with family members, that can respect the instruction of their parents. GOD IS SO GOOD AND WANTS THE BLESSING OF HIS WORD IN OUR CHILDREN'S LIVE.
