Rating: Summary: Life Imitating Art! Review: I have waited with bated breath for Terry's next novel and it was well worth the wait. Wow, what a talented writer she is. I didn't think that it would be possible to blend that many characters together and still have an excellent read. The Price family is truly a family that I can relate to. Viola was certainly a true matriach. A woman who was willing to do whatever is necessary for her children to stay grounded. That takes tough love and Viola had plenty. We as mothers should take a look at this book and learn from it. Our kids would certainly not be in school shooting one another if they had mothers like Viola. Excellent book!
Rating: Summary: A Day Late and A Dollar Short Review: Well written, grasps the reader and holds the interest. You find yourself wanting to read it through at the first sitting. As much as I like McMillian this was not her best. Wish I had waited until it came out in paperback. Hope it comes out in a movie.

Rating: Summary: Reminder of Soul Food Review: This was a very touching story and was so real and fit for the Soul. At first I thought there were too many characters to keep up with but Ms McMillan was able to tie everything together perfectly and left no loose ends. It was a very fast pace read and was made for book club discussions. The end of the book had me in tears and was so realistic I felt I was a member of the family identifying with some of the issues the family was experiencing. Excellent!
Rating: Summary: Terry McMillian has outdone hereself this time! Review: This book was fantastic! I picked it up on Friday night at the mall and finished it on Saturday night. I have not read a book that made me laugh and cry at the same time in years. The Price family is my family! Thnak you Terry for bringing it all to the table.
Rating: Summary: Great read -- Poignant, heartfelt, magnificent Review: I couldn't put the book down, it grabbed at my heart. The characters seemed so real. The book reminds me of "Mama" which I thought was Terry's best. But, now this is my favorite. I belong to a book club and everyone loves this book. All the club members expressed the same sentiments. With this one you'll laugh and cry. I read in public, and I could not stop the tears or laughter. I enjoyed reading it from beginning to end. Awaiting the next book Terry. Will you be able to top this one?
Rating: Summary: Terry at her Best Review: I didn't realize how much I missed Terry McMillan until I started reading this novel; Ms. McMillan certainly knows how to produce magic with her words by creating a truly appealing, amusing and heart-rendering piece of fiction. A Day Late and a Dollar Short was positively worth the wait. The lives of the Prices in so many ways seemed so real to me as it reflects so much of the day-to-day lives of my own family and friends. Just reading about this family on the brink of collapse but who manages to find its way back to what's really important, (family) after the death of one of the main characters is without a doubt a memorable one and one you don't want to miss. Acceptance of the good and the bad as well as the strong and the weak. I loved this story and Ms. McMillan, please don't make us wait so long for the next release and to those of you who doubt: always remember a mother knows her child.
Rating: Summary: The boss is back Review: This book is the bomb! Terry!! It is about time. This family is just like everyone's else's (you know, scared to mention it). I fell out of my chair reading the first couple of pages. Cecil was a trip. Those kids of Viola's are crazy from the word go. Keep up the good work. Hey, don't wait so long to put out the next one. Hell another 10 years from now, I will be dead.
Rating: Summary: AWESOME! Review: Terry McMillan strikes once again. I couldn't put the book down. I took it to work with me and even my students knew that I would pick the book up every chance I got.I laughed. I cried. It was an extremely touching book. I felt like I was right there with everyone. I even wanted to slap some of the characters, while I wanted to hi-five others. It was so real. This is the world that we're living in and she put it down on paper. You won't go wrong if you take the time to read this.
Rating: Summary: Family African-American Style Review: "A Day Late and A Dollar Short" was well worth the wait! Miss McMillan's talent for writing what's real far exceeds most of her counterparts. Her characters are well written and speak to you from the pages. Each voice being distinct and possesing their own flavor. If I didn't know better I would have thought Terry had binoculars and spyglasses on my family and the family down the street! Kudos to the Queen! It's real, it's entertaining and it reminds me of how precious life, love and family are!
