Rating: Summary: I want more Veritas Project! Review: Hey, all I can say is I WANT MORE!! But, the first book in this series, Hangman's Curse was the best. I personally thought that this book had the ending that was a little too perfect, almost like I saw it coming. The story in itself was incredible! Let me say that it is a rarity that I would rank ANYTHING Frank Peretti under 5 stars, but this is a slight exception. I really want to see more Veritas Project coming out. Either that or another fiction book. But this was an awesome book to say the least. Do it again, Frank!
Rating: Summary: Way WAY better than the first one! Review: I absolutely could not put this book down. It draws you in from the very first page and there is almost never a dull moment. In this second installment in the series (Veritas Project), Elijah and Elisha are completely cut off from their parents. Posing as teen runaways, they were drugged and taken in their sleep to a creepy "academy" in the middle of who-knows-where. From the moment they first go to "class", you can tell there is a wierd brainwashing scheme in the works. I won't give two much away, but i just have to say, this story was very thought-provoking and suspenceful. One of the best books I have read in years. So why did I only give it four stars? Well...because of characters. They just don't seem very real.In Hangman's Curse were interesting. But this one they just seem so wooden. Even Elisha, who was so sweet in hangman's Curse, seemed like the stereotype of a perky Christian Good girl.
Rating: Summary: Great for teens and adults Review: I bought the Veritas Project set for my teenage son and ended up reading them myself. Nightmare Academy is suspenseful, but, I hate to admit this, it's not quite as good as the first one, which is why I gave it 4 stars. It has a great story line, but I found it harder to connect to the other characters in this story, unlike the first book, where you could really empathize with the kids who were getting picked on. Also, I thought that the ending was a little outlandish and I had a hard time believing that anyone would go through so much trouble, money and murder just to research a theory on "truth." However, the story does clearly show the effect that the lack of truth has in our society today. And don't get me wrong, Peretti is one of my favorite authors and this book is definitely suspenseful. Maybe I just expected too much after the first one. But I definitely recommend reading it.
Rating: Summary: A GREAT BOOK!!! Review: I had found this at a local library. I was suprised that it was Christain. I myself was a wavering Christian but I decided to give it a try. The book is set up just like a great mystery. These books prove that Christain mysteries are just as good and even better then the other stuff out there. Veritas deals with truth and in this book it shows what happens without it. People of all ages should read it and examine themselves. I also recommend the series Adventures in oddysey's Passages. It deels with the stories in the Bible. Happy reading!
Rating: Summary: The nightmare academy! Review: i like this book a lot, i think that this book is an amazing twist about good and evil and darkness and light. i have just bought this book coz i thought it was soo interesting and mysterious, i suggest that you try to read this book, and be surprised and amazed as much as i have been.
Rating: Summary: A must read book! Review: I would definitely recommend reading this book to teenagers and adults alike. The plot is excellently written and is very complete from start to finish. The chapters flow well from one to the next even though they move back and forth between the main characters. Although this is the second book in the Veritas Project series, you don't need to have read the first one to understand this book. The characters are nicely written and I felt that it was easy to relate to them. The different characters could entertain you as well as scare you. The book itself keeps you in suspense the whole time you are reading. It has nice foreshadowing but it never reveals too much so as to give the story away. Once you start reading this book, you aren't going to want to put it down. Nightmare Academy was definitely a five-star book and it keeps you enthralled all the way to the climax of the story and beyond.
Rating: Summary: Awesome book! Review: I'm a sixteen year old male who would rather watch television than read a book...... I couldn't put this book down. This book really delt with the issues of right and wrong, truth, and boundaries. Then what would happen to a society when you take these things away. Let's just say I respect all those things a little more now. This is a great book with suspense, mystery and a little mind game..... just for fun. This is a book that everyone young and old should read. The first book "Hangman's Curse", which I also highly recommend, is also an awsome book which was actually made into a movie.
Rating: Summary: Peretti's second book in the Veritas series is awesome! Review: I'm beginning to think that Peretti simply can't fail in the world of Christian fiction. He hit it again. The second in the Veritas Project series, Peretti's new cast of characters are back for another adventure...and this one makes it personal for the Springfields. Elijah and Elisha (It's pronounced like Alicia) go undercover to try to discover the secret behind the place that is muttered from the mouth of a juvenile rebel, found roaming the forest saying only one name: Nightmare Academy. They never dreamed that a homeless shelter in the city could transfer into a private school in the country overnight! Alicia and Elijah must fervently retain to what they know is true, when they find themselves attending...Nightmare Academy. The book is awesome. It's a little creepy (not as bad as the first one) and scary, but there's not really any objectionable stuff I could mention, in regards to younger audiences reading it. Just a cool Peretti thriller!
Rating: Summary: For ages 9-12?? I don't think so! Review: I've read both books in the series, and neither one of them, in my opinion, is suitable for pre-teens. Besides, the principal characters are 16 year olds. These books are highly intense, graphic and down right frightening. My 10 year old wants to read them. My answer to her was no. My 18 year old is the one who introduced me to the series. She is old enough to comprehend all that is going on, and is far less likely to be traumatized or have nightmares as a result of reading them. To use movie ratings, I would give these books a PG-13+, of not an R.
Rating: Summary: Great, a amazingly good book........ Review: Its a shame how few good christian teen writers there are. I read alot so I should have a clue what I am talking about. And I think that this is incredibly good. All they need to do is make a movie about it , like Hangmans Curse. If you think this book preaches. It doesn't. I grew up in the church and I know what I am talking about. Unless your loking for the sermon, you won't feel preached. Enjoy the the book for what it is and read more Frank Peretti
