Summary: Inspiring, imaginative, provocative, HOT! A must read!
Review: Through Lena McPherson, Ms. Ansa provides insight and wisdom for today's woman regardless of race. Lena experiences community, family, church, and business demands with which most smart, capable, professional women can identify. The demands reach such intensity that she becomes increasingly sad and lonely. The trials and tribulations Lena overcomes in the journey to find her own identity and happiness in the face of "what everybody else thinks" provides the reader encouragement. Through Lena, many of us can finally realize that "ya ain't got to sacrifice yo'se'f on the altar of doin' and goin' and fixin'."

Summary: JUMPSTARTED MY LOVE LIFE!!
Review: As a member of a female book club we often share with each other "Love Making Tips and Secrets". The Hand I fan with made us realize the importance of spiritual and emotional lovemaking as well as the physical. It was a wonderful reading experience and these sentiments were shared by all of the "SOM'EM SASSY" club members!

Summary: It was fabulous. Could not stop listening to the tape.
Review: I loved the author's use of adjectives. I imagined myself right in the story. The characters were so vivid and it exposed to me a great deal of other cultures. Recommended listening for anyone that wants to expand their thoughts on life and death. Great job....will have to read her other books.

Summary: Very sensual, exciting, thought provoking, thrilling & fun.
Review: I really enjoyed this audiobook. The first item that caught my attention was the narrator, Sheryl Lee Ralph. She has a sensual, exciting, descriptive voice. She was excellent in her narration and in her ability to voice the different characters. This made the listening of the book more interesting and exciting. Once the main character met her dream man -- the narrator was able to make you feel what was happening. I enjoyed the audiobook so much that I went out to my library and checked out the book. I would love to hear the audiobook in its unabridged form.

I give this work 5 stars for excellent narration and the author 5 stars for an excellent book. It made you not want to put it down to you hear every second of it.

Summary: Slow start but powerful finish....
Review: Now this is the piece that should be on film. This rather complex piece has the ability to touch the soul in a simplistic manner.

Summary: A mystical, engrossing read!
Review: The Hand I Fan With resonates with me, even one year later. The images Ms. Ansa evokes are at once lyrical, thought-provoking and real. Yes, I realize the book is about a ghost/man, but it is Ms. Ansa's skill in writing which makes him as real as the live characters. I eagerly await her next effort!

Summary: engrossing
Review: I thought the author did a wonderful job pulling the reader into the realtionship with Lena and her-man. It was a little slow in the beginning but I soon found myself unable to put it down. I hope that there will be a sequel to reunite them.

Summary: Uplifting ghost love story with a message.
Review: This book is many things and although the love story is very well done, is extremely sensual and touching, a large part of the book is just Lena's. And Lena is a wonderfully funny, likable character. The book is about her growth as a person as she learns how to slow down and enjoy the simpler pleasures of life - and learns that she doesn't have to please everyone (and learns that some people aren't happy no matter how much you do). The book goes into vivid detail about her small town and the people she gives her heart and soul to. It's heartbreaking, uplifting, erotic and funny and teaches a lesson a lot of us can really benefit from. I definitely enjoyed this story.

Summary: A Good Read, However...
Review: "The Hand I fan with", the sequel to Ansa's first book "The Baby of the Family" was a good read, it would have been much better if the author did not dwell so much on the materialistic Lena, but the warm and spirited Lena, I found it to be intertesting but a little boring. The fact she was born with a "veil over her face" was overrated, but I found it neccessary to tie in the ghost lover. I found the story sweet, a nice romantic ghost story. It seems as though the writer wanted evryone to really connect with Lena, so I think she went a little overboard, but I sitll reccommend the book as a good read. However "Ugly Ways", was her better book.
