Summary: A fair woman's romance novel with a supernatural twist.
Review: This book was obviously written by a woman for women. It could almost be a textbook on how to love a woman and make her happy. It is easy to see why Lena had very little luck with men prior to her ghostly lover Herman appearing. The entire book focuses on Herman loving Lena, there is very little if any description on Lena loving Herman. Herman is the vehicle for Lena to embrace a personal life, and accept her own supernatural gifts. As others have said there is much to much time and words spent traipsing off on tangents that tend to get the reader lost and/or confused about what is going on. The book is much too long and has, what was for me, an unsatisfying ending. This was definitely a woman's book. I don't think you'll find too many brothers reading or recommending it unless they want pointers on how to make a woman happy. Lena and Sister certainly conjured up what some might consider the perfect man; one that is superbly and supernaturally skilled in the art of making love, but doesn't require or evidently even desire, the same in return.

Summary: Much Too Slow!!
Review: I completely agree w/ the other one-star reviews. The book started out much too slowly -- who cares about Lena's clothes, memories, and so on? Let's get to the story. The ghost visitor idea appealed to me, but it took forever for Herman to show up!

I made it through, though -- after the first chapter, I just skimmed the rest. Finished the thing in about 2 hours that way.

Won't read the rest of her stuff.

Summary: Hated it
Review: You have to be kiding. Tears of bordom prevented me from finishing this. It took fifty pages for her drive to work and be shown a room. She went had too many back flashes and when the author resumed to the present I'd forgotten where we were. Too much redundant information. I don't recommend this book at all.

Summary: Fast paced, interesting plot twist with great characters
Review: I loved the spiritual, ghostly twist to this story. Interesting story line, original, fun, sassy and entertaining. You have great style and kept some cold nights warm....

Summary: THE BOOK OF THE DECADE
Review: I AM A WOMAN WHO LOVES TO READ, SO WHEN I SAY,"THE BOOK OF THE DECADE",I MEAN IT. FROM THE CATCHY NAME OF THE MALE CHARACTER,HERMAN WHICH MEANT "HER MAN". TO THE BOUNTIFUL LOVE BETWEEN TWO SPIRITS.ONE OF THE HUMAN SINCE AND ONE OF THE SUPERNATURAL. A LOVE SO GRAND ONE COULD ONLY HOLD THEIR BREATH AND WISH THEIR LOVER COULD LOVE THEM SO SUPERBLY. THE BOOK IS A WAKE UP CALL. IT ALLOWED ALL OF US THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPERIENCE HOW TRUE LOVE AND DEDICATION SHOULD BE APPROACHED. I AM CERTAINED THAT MANY OF "THE HAND I FAN WITH",READERS WOULD AGREE IT HAS CHANGED OUR PERSPECTIVE OF THE WAY WE OFFER AND RECEIVE LOVE.

Summary: Inspiring, Fun, Beautiful and Sexy!
Review: Tina McElroy Ansa has a gifted way of writing that makes you feel like you're in the town of Mulberry, living among her characters. You can see them, hear them, love them and suck your teeth at their bold ways. Her writing's engaging, funny, sexy and above all -- uplifting and inspiring. I felt wonderful after reading this book.

Summary: HATED IT
Review: KEEPING IT SHORT AND SIMPLE. I THINK THE CHARCTER RECALLED TOO MANY EVENTS OF THE PAST. IN FACT I SCHEMEED THROUGH THE BOOK A LOT. THE INTIMATE SCENES WERE GOOD, BUT TELL ME WHO COULDN'T CONSTRUCT A GOOD LOVE SCENE IF THEY PUT THEIR MIND TO IT. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS FOR YOUR LIBRARY. ALTHOUGH IT IS IN MINE BECAUSE I PURCHASED IT BEFORE I KNEW.DONT WASTE YOUR TIME.

Summary: an excellent read!
Review: Once you pick this book up, you will not be able to put it down. I actually cried when Herman left. What a beautiful love story!

Summary: I could read this one over and over again.
Review: I always intend to read my favorite books again, but this was one of the few I made time to read a second and even third time. I always recommend it to my friends and anyone who asks my opinion of good books. Herman was so believable and it was wonderful to see a man (although a ghost), love a woman so intensely and completely. I loved Lena's character. The writing was sensual, funny, touching, and believable.

This one is a keeper to pass on to my niece when she's old enough to read.
