Summary: If you liked "Dirty Dancing," try this wonderful keeper
Review: One of LaVyrle Spencer's best books. Lorna and Jens are so well developed that you can almost touch them and truly feel their pain. I never wanted this book to end. If you liked the "poor boy meets rich girl in hopeless relationship" themes in the movies "Dirty Dancing" and "Titanic," then you're sure to love this book as much as I did. This one's on my keeper shelf.

Summary: Deserving of all the 5 Stars it got!!!!
Review: Such a sweet and romantic story.
I laughed, I cryed, I hurt and I rejoyced at Lorna's and Jens's happiness (and I'm 53....)
This writer is fantastic!

Summary: November of the Heart
Review: The setting of November of the Heart is Minnesota, 1895. Lorna Barnett, the central figure, is the beautiful eighteen-year-old daughter of Commodore Gideon Barnett, a proud man who's a member of the White Bear Yacht Club. The Barnetts are high on the social ladder, and the Barnetts expect Lorna to marry the handsome, well-off Taylor DuVal. However, one summer at their lake house, Lorna unexpectedly falls in love with the kitchenhand, twenty-five-year-old Jens Harkens, the Norweigan, and they begin a passionate, risky relationship. They both know that if they are discovered, Jens will be banished from the lakehouse. Gideon Barnett is passionate about racing boats, and after bitterly losing a race, Jens suggests that he knows how to build a better boat (after all, he is a Norweigan), so he is commissioned to build a boat for the next race. However, his tenure is cut short as his and Lorna's relationship is exposed, and Lorna's life is almost ruined with scandal.

A poignant, passionate read that deals with love at its cruelest and at its heartwarming best, but a lot of times, I felt like the plot was too stagnant and uninteresting. There are not a lot of driving moments/action that make the plot move forward, and the ending is resolved a little too neatly. However, if one does not mind the verbiage and the intense sexual scenes (if one is not comfortable with these kinds of things), then one can enjoy this cute "coming of age" novel for Lorna Barnett and her undying love for her Norweigan.

Summary: caught my eye; held my attention - if you know what I mean
Review: This book was dynamite. I read it 3 times!!! Her struggle through her dilemna was a role model for all of us young lovers. She perservered. She won. She came out "a winner". Her next book "Small Town Girl" comes out in a few weeks. Order your copy now. What a "warm and cozy" way to start off 1997. It may even give you some suggestions that you can use for Valentine's Day. I read about 2 books/week and I found this an "easy read". The problem is that I hated to turn from one page to the next . . . for fear that I'd missed some heart-warming moments; however, I couldn't wait to get to the next page because the drama was strong. When you get your copy, don't lend it to your best friend - you'll never see it again!!

Summary: A magnificently written romance
Review: This book was positively captivating. It was a beautifully written coming-of-age story that is destined to remain on my bookshelf (and in my heart) for all time. The love between Lorna and Jens was that of the simplest and purest nature, which is so rare to find in this day and age when everything is so complicated. I truly felt for Jens and Lorna and openly cried more than once. Thankfully, I was all smiles by the end...enough said, as I wouldn't want to give it away for those who have not had the pleasure. I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

P.S. Also try Lavyrle Spencer's "The Gamble" and "Years"

Summary: Excellent! Definitely a Book I will read again and again!
Review: This is definitely another of My favorites! I simply could not put this one down! It was a slow starter, but once you got about half-way through, you were completely enticed! It was so heartbreaking to read about all the heartbreaks Jens and Lorna had to go through, I wanted to cry right along with them, except for the fact that I am not a "show of emotions" type of person. I literally stayed up until 2 A.M. to finish the book, I could not put it down. This is an excellent sob story, with a more than happy ending, I swear you will be grinning yourself after finishing this One! I hope this has been helpful to you and I hope you enjoy!

Summary: So unbelievably good, Im feeling speechless...
Review: well ok -not speechless- but certainly pleasantly dreamy. What a story!!!! I am IN LOVE with Jens Harkin!! Where does Lavyrle Spencer come up with these men???!!! Lorna was wonderful as well. I have never found an author that writes better heroines than LS. Both Jens and Lorna were so well developed...believable in that I didnt always agree with their actions, but fell in love with both of them regardless. This book was just riveting. I loved the conflict of their classes and all of the obstacles just had me feeling insanely impatient, but wow! What an ending. PLEASE...go buy this book and read it. You wont regret it. This is a genuine keeper that I look forward to rereading again and again.

Summary: Simply Beautiful!
Review: What else can I add to other readers' reviews but this: this love story has simply touched my heart... I keep coming back to it every couple of years and I honestly think that "November of the Heart" is one of the most romantic stories ever written. If you haven't discovered it yet, read it soon, you will not be disappointed.
