Rating: Summary: An excellent romance!! Review: I LOVE THIS BOOK! That really seems to be all there is to say ... it's simply fabulous. Lorna and Jens are a wonderful couple and their innocence and naivete are refreshing in lieu of other jaded romance pairings. The love is honest, the romance is true, and I always end this book on a sigh; it's that good! This novel is a must for anyone who loves romance, particularly of the sweet and endearing type!
Rating: Summary: A beautiful Victorian-era love story Review: I loved this book! I would recommend it to anyone who wants to spend an afternoon curled up in a comfortable chair with a good book. The sailing scenes are exciting, and the story of Jens and Lorna's love and separation touching. I loved the character of Jens for his values of honesty and hard work. Ms. Spencer does a wonderful job of describing what the rich ate, wore and the activities they enjoyed, and contrasts those to the far more simple pleasures of boatracing and boatbuilding loved by Jens. I also enjoyed her descriptions of the typical behavior of the aunts and other members of Lorna's family. Aunt Agnes always fondly remembers her Captain Dearsley but Aunt Henrietta, who is so sour on men, merely warns Lorna to wear a sharp hatpin when she is alone with Taylor. Little does anyone know, Taylor is not the man Lorna is spending time with. The story of Jens and Lorna's relationship, from the first meeting in the kitchen of the Rose Point cottage to her disgrace and banishment when her parents learn she is pregnant, is funny, touching and sad by turns. The scenes I enjoyed most were near the end. I was touched when Lorna sees her son for the first time since he is born, and felt great admiration for Lorna when she risked the censure of her rich social circle by bringing her son to the regatta. LaVyrle combines plot, description and character development to make a great story. --Wynne Lewis
Rating: Summary: Breathtakingly beautiful and touching Review: I loved this book. The story touched the deepest parts of my soul. I couldn't put it down!
Rating: Summary: One of Spencer's best love stories Review: I think that this is one of the best love stories I have ever read. Even set back in the victorian era-this story proves to be passionate, and very parallel to any modern day romance between two lovers that come from a different background. This was the first novel of Spencer's that I ever read and I am now an addict-READ THEM ALL!
Rating: Summary: This was my favorite LaVyrle Spencer book. Review: I thought this was an excellent novel. I really liked the characters. This was written so well that you could feel the love, pain, and sorrow of the characters. I could not put this book down once I started it.
Rating: Summary: I fell in love with Jens - you have to read this book Review: I thought this was Lavyrle Spencer's best book yet. The very first scene is very descriptive and amusing, and sets the tone for the rest of the story. This book pulled me in. I could identify with the characters, truly a sign of great writing. Most of all, I fell in love with Jens, the leading man of the story, based on his drive, confidence and personality. His character was so well-thought out that I believed that he could easily be a real person. I would recommend this book to anyone
Rating: Summary: November of The Heart Review: I truly believe this is one of the best emotional books of all time. I felt so very sorry for Jens and Lorna because their love was so beautifully portrayed in the book, but their surroundings caused heartbreak. I definitaly cried, but the ending is not so bad. Lorna truly overcomes her parents and sets out to win Jen's heart again.
Rating: Summary: tale of a love meant to be Review: Lavyrle Spencer's book November of the Heart warms the imagination and takes you away to another place. It was a book I couldn't put down. Her style of writing is one that keeps you wanting more. She greatly describes the feelings and emotions of the characters. She makes the readers feel as though they are part of the book.
Rating: Summary: This book changed me somehow. Review: November of the Heart was the first romance novel I ever read. It touched my heart so! I'd had this image of "those type of books" that kept me away from them. You know, hot descriptive sex and exotic locales. This was nothing like that. Two very different people meet and love has its way with them. There were a couple of places in this book where I literally started sobbing, overcome with emotion. I have since read everything LaVyrle Spencer has written, but this one holds a special place in my heart.
Rating: Summary: This book touched my heart, all should know such a love! Review: November of the Heart, a story of two kids from different worlds who fall in love and are meant to be....A Romeo and Juliet with a happy ending...It doesnt get better than this.
