Summary: A simplistic way of bringing Jesus' presence to our humanity
Review: Joseph Girzone writes this portrait of Jesus with a knowledge of the person of Jesus. He walks the talk. Because he knows Jesus personnally, Joseph Girzone can make a difference in his writings. This is not an intellectual account of Jesus, it is not fiction, it is a walk with Our Lord, his friendship with Jesus. This book does have an historical slant, you have to read in between the lines to discover Joseph Girzone's inner life with Jesus. This inner life is instilled in all of Joseph Girzones books but his first book Joshua is still my personal favorite. At last someone writes about the person of Jesus in an intimate, simple way. So simple that you have a hard time believing that this is why Jesus came on earth. Like the famous song from the movie Alfie, Is That All There Is?. I have heard the saying the hardest action to take is to see with the heart and not with the head. Joseph Girzone has a wonderful way of writing to make this happen. He does not force us to believe in his Jesus. This is not his way, nor is it Jesus' way, he simply and beautifully brings Jesus alive in his writings. I have personally read many many books on the theology of Jesus but Joseph Girzone's books have taken the log out of my own eyes and left me with a more open heart to try to live my life more fully. To walk the path of the Gospel in a more straight forward way.

Summary: The Truth of Jesus from the Gospels
Review: So many have tried to capture for readers the heart of Jesus, the Christ, yet only Joseph Grizone seems to have found a loving path to Jesus' heart. Taken by the hand of Grizone I feel myself walking with Jesus, feeling His feelings, listening to His thoughts.

Grizone shows us that Jesus, too, gets troubled and confused. He writes, "Father, when I began my mission, I had to many dreams, so many things I wanted to accomplish for You. I thought I understood himan nature, and would sway the people to come back to You. But it is not working that way. It is not that easy. They listen only halfheartedly. I am too spiritual for them. They want a worldly kingdom; all I have to offer is Your Kingdom of Truth and goodness and the promise that they will one day live with you forever in Your home." Most importantly, Grizone helps us by his example to forge a genuine relationship with Jesus, the Christ, our heavenly Brother, the God Who loved us so much,He willingly endured the shame and humiliation to suffer and die for our sins so that we could gain salvation.

I feel closer to Jesus when I read Grizone's books and Grizone reinforces my feeling that I am never alone, that Jesus walks beside me most times and carries me during my most troubled times.

I have read every one of Grizone's books and I am sure that his first book about Cara, the falcon who stopped eating flesh, somehow contributed to my decision to become a lacto-vegetarian.

How desperately we on this earth need Jesus' loving message. For those who cannot or will not struggle through thousands of years old Biblical text, there is Grizone writing of a modern Jesus who embodies all the characteristics of Jesus, the Christ, Who always was and always will be humanity's Blessed Savior!

Summary: Let's Get Down to Business
Review: This book is amazing. Never has Joseph Girzone captured such wisdom into one of "His" books. This may be one of the biggest building blocks for denominational reconciliation. I couldn't put it down. Neither could my Mom for that matter. I would highly reccommend this book!-

Summary: Another wonderful Girzone book
Review: This book separates the politics of religion from the religion of God. He describes some of the gospel parables on such a human level, anyone can relate to who Jesus really is.

Summary: Very good book
Review: This is a very good book, by Jospeh Girzone, about the life of Jesus, in a story format. It is really a great way to learn about the life passion, death, and ressurection of Christ.

Summary: An Insightful Attempt. A Missunderstood Mesiah?
Review: This is an insightful attempt to perceive a Messiah that many of us have never really understood. Fr. Grizone does a great job of "fleshing out" the Jesus we SHOULD be taught about. Obviously a bit disenfranchised with (many?) leaders in the Christian Church, Grizone pieces together various parts of the New Testament to paint his view of how the Church OUGHT to be. He's right. One has to wonder what Jesus would tell many of our priests and pastors about the way His Message has been manipulated in the last two millennia. (Flashback to the movie "Oh God!") The book is a fairly easy read and does a wonderful job of painting the Man so many of us long to understand, but have been so sadly misinformed about.

Summary: The REAL Jesus
Review: This small simple book, shows a humble and casual saviour that undertstands human weakness, it also shows that the church has failed in showing grace to sinners, I cried several times throughout reading this book as I realised how much Jesus not only wants to be my friend, but this in spite of my many failings. I am not a catholic, and before reading this I would have thought that Protestant churches were not religious and catholic churches are, both these statements are wrong. Jesus is purely interested in the individual, he accepts us as we are, Girzones simple style makes this easy to read, this book is both simple and profound at the same time, just as Jesus himself is the greatest glory, God himself and and also a humble man all in one. This books shows how Christ treated people and by reading it, the reader can see how the church has fallen way short of what Christ actually taught. "Compassion not sacrifice" Jesus said to the Pharisees to go and learn what that scripture means, that scripture is as relevant today to all denominations, A Portrait of Jesus is a great start.......
