Summary: Fantastic
Review: Let's face it - John Grisham's not going to win the Nobel Prize any time soon. But he is still the King of the easy read - call it trash if you want to, but you won't find too many books easier to read than this one. The story is great, the plotting is great, the ending is - IMHO, of course - a little disappointing as (in my opinion (which goes without saying)) in many of his books, but it's a great story, and Grisham tells it like no one else can. Read this one - great book.

Summary: great book
Review: this was a very entertaining book. The only problem was that it was a little too much court for me, but if this won't bother you then it's a 5 star book.

Summary: More of the Same
Review: Well its another McBook from the burn and turn factory know as Grisham Inc. I am convinced he has a group of Santa's elf's slaving away in some South Carolina sweat shop turning these screen plays - sorry, I mean books out. If you have read some of the authors books in the past you have a good idea of what you are going to get. An easy to read and understandable book that is as light as cotton candy. I actually think the movie was better. Why do I read his books, for the same reason I eat junk food, it is easy to get, fast and not complicated. Sometimes you just need a little light reading to take the stress from the day and his books fit that bill.

Summary: I think John Grisham is the best
Review: John Grisham does what he is the best at, which is writing. He mixes his extremely well put together plots with his law skills to create masterpieces read and re-read by millions. In my opinion, this book is definately worth buying.
It's basically about an 11 year old boy who has a cigarette with his brother in the woods when they stumble upon a car. Inside this car is the lawyer defending Barry "The Blade" Muldanno, and for some reason, this man inside the car wants to kill himself. Since Mark and his little brother Ricky was there, they fall into the situation which turns into a matter for the best lawyers in the U.S. who try their best to squeeze what really happened out of Mark and Ricky. I give this book 5 stars because it is astounding, the plot, the style of writing, the characters, all the best ever. There was even a movie made about it.

Summary: Good start, draggy middle and weak ending
Review: I have been trying to find a good Grisham book all these time and this one disappointed me again. It made a promising start when this 11-year-old Mark gets himself and his brother into lots of trouble by being in the wrong place at the wrong time. As if witnessing a suicide wasn't enough, they tried to stop it and in the midst, learn of a big secret that puts their family's lives in danger. The entire incident sends Mark's brother into shock. It was fast-paced and immediately, we could tell that Mark was established as a witty and smart kid.

However, the middle starts to drag along with how he tried to outwit the police, the Mafia etc. The middle section is boring on the whole, but occasionally the wit of Mark gives readers pleasant surprises. Another major character was introduced, Reggie Love, the lawyer of Mark. She is carefully portrayed as a middle-aged, extremely caring lawyer, not only to Mark but to most of her juvenile clients. I feel that Grisham could have reduced the number of antagonists in this part as the names can get confusing if you try to read fast.

Towards the end, the story starts to pick up when Love and Mark breaks out of their limits and tries to uncover their secret. I was expecting a much better ending with a satisfactory conclusion as to what really happened but Grisham chose to leave the end as it is. Maybe he wanted to leave room for speculation?

On the whole, i am rather disappointed with this story. It is built on a rather weak plot with some parts rather unbelievable. The description is kept to a minimum and it should be an easy read. Only 2 of the character are built up enough and there are simply too many of the small characters. Disappointing... choose other novels if you are able to.

Summary: A thrilling and honest tale
Review: The Client is the first of Grisham's books I've read, and it seems to me that Grisham is doing something very commendable; he's doing what he does best. In his younger years John Grisham was a young lawyer and it clearly shines through his novels that he knows what he's talking about, from the dilemmas the persons are going through to the legal procedure. It's possible to find numerous imitations of his writing-style in the bookmarket, but most of them are just bleak rip-offs when compared.
A small group of the intellectuals will - in a very limited horizon and feeling of knowing better - claim that John Grisham's enourmous success is a mystery because he doesn't write well, but take it or leave it, he writes with an amazing, almost naive honesty and depicts the things the way they are. The plot in the client is very well constructed and - cardboard characters or not - this is a good story that will please anyone open to John Grisham's style. I hold a great deal of respect for this man for what he does as I recommend this book to you with all of my heart.

Summary: Suspenseful, with great character development
Review: Brilliant! A real page turner. The book's characters are three-dimensional people you care about -- they seem so real (complete with flaws and problems). The characters are well fleshed out and the dialogue is very natural. The young boy talks, thinks, and acts like a boy who has had a disadvantaged life, just as the female attorney acts in accordance with her life experiences. The movie wasn't bad, but the book is much better!

Review: It was a very disappointing novel.
John Grisham should take writing courses.
He is a horrible writer!

Summary: Grisham writes yet another that just can't be put down
Review: I have read two of Grisham's books before this one, The Testament and The Firm, and this one is just as entertaining. It starts off with the young but wise character of Mark Sway who has a lousy home life. One day, he and his brother stumble upon a man trying to commit suicide in the woods and Mark tries to stop him. Unfortunately for him, however, he learns too much in the process. Because of this newly obtained information, he has a dangerous Mob member hot on his trails. This murdering criminal wants the boy to keep quite while authorities want him to tell all. Caught in the middle with no way out Reggie Love, a sassy lawyer with spunk, guts, and determination, tries to bring this case to safe ending. She lays it all on the line.
The plot starts off quite exciting in the beginning but varies in intensity throughout the whole novel. At times, the pages can go on about legal matters and be slow to get through, but before you know it, it has suddenly picked back up to its exhilarating pace. I think that this book is so much fun and easy to read because of its fast tempo. Things happen so quickly that you can't put it down. Also, I think the characters in Grisham's works are all very realistic and their actions are relative to the way most of us would react in their given situations. This, too, is another reason why Grisham keeps bouncing back with success upon success. He has all the key ingredients that would appeal to all readers. This is a book you should not pass up on the shelves.

Summary: The Client
Review: In the fiction novel "The Client," By John Grisham, the protagoist, eleven- year-old mark Sway witnesses the bizarre suicide of a New Orleans attorney as the novel opens. Just as he dies, the lawyer tells mark of a deadly secet concerning the recent murder of a Louisiana Senator, whose accused killer, Mafia thug Barry Muldanno is about to go to trial. The police, the federal prosecutor, and the FBI pressure Mark to tell them the attorney's last words, but he knows that with the mob watching his every move, revealing his secret will surely get him killed.
Therefore Mark, streetwise beyond his years, hires a lawyer: Reggie Love, whose been through more than anyone could imagine and survived. When Mark's life is threatened, and Reggie discovers her office has been "bugged," the Juvenile Court says Mark has no choice but to talk. She realizes that this time she's in way over her head. Then Mark comes up with a plan.
Mark Sway is an eleven year old genious, who is also quite foolish. This contrast of character keeps an excellent flow of the plot. John Grisham does an excellent job on Mark's character, as well as Foltrigg, the opposing stuckup, U.S. prosecuting attorney. Engoseed in his job, he really helps display the infamous view of lying, cheating and sneaky lawyers, which we all hate, yet Grisham makes it seem like he if jus ttrying to do his job.
Finally, this book was very suspenseful. One thing after another occoured, which was exciting. Although Grisham had a rushed ending it seemed. The ending could have been much better. It leaves us guessing at the fate of Mark. Some readers may enjoy this concept, while I would have liked a better ending to this action packed thriller. Overall, "The Client" was a rush.
