Summary: well worth reading
Review: I thought this was an excellent book. I picked it up at Barnes and Nobles to leaf through and ended up sitting there until I'd read the whole thing. Though not a female counterpart to Harry Potter, I think anyone who enjoys the Potter books will enjoy this book.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: wonderful
Review: This book was amazing. It had many twist and turns as you go through the magic with Gemma. I thought this book taught a wonderful lesson about power and friendship. I agree that there should be a sequel because it was kind of confusing in the end because you don't know if Gemma can start the Order again or why she would even want to after everything that happened and you don't know what happened with Ciircs. This book is definitley worth reading.

Summary: ENCOUNTERS OF THE MAGICAL KIND!
Review: Set in Victorian times this adventure unfolds in a boarding school for girls. There the heroine, Gemma learns she has magical powers and must learn to control them as she and fellow students explore this and other worlds. No, its not a female counterpart of "Harry Potter and the Hogwarts", it's closer to "Carrie" and "A Girl Interrupted". It is an equally intriguing, mysterious, fascinating tale.

Summary: my thoughts
Review: i think this book is beyond wonderful. i would type what it's about, but there is already much better details above that i won't bother. i'd like for a sequel to come out. i really want to find out what happens with her friends, her love interest, and the releams. i believe if you haven't read this book yet, you should buy it or borrow it from a friend. i promise you'll find it to spark an interest in this author and hopefully a sequel.

Summary: *crosses fingers for a trilogy*
Review: I did love this book. I could give you a summerization, but since others have done such an excellent job, I see no point. I just wonder, if there will be a trilogy. It would make sense, to tie up Gemma's family problems (her fathers memory loss, her brother finding someone to be his bride), her could-be romance with the man who is trying to keep her away form her powers, if she will have more visions (it bugged my slightly in that she only had two visions), if Kartik will acctully see through his threat in which he said please at the bottom of the note (which he never did in this book) about keeping her from her powers...and most importantly, can she bring the Order together and will she by chance defeat the Circe?

And for a side thought, will Gemma have a traditional betrothal, like a lady? And what about her friends lifes-to-be?

I'm too critical, I know. But there things were really was bothering me after I was done with the read, so I hope there is a second book. I did love this book because it reminded me of another favorite book. Really, I am just hoping for a Trilogy so that's why I voice my critisizms ^.^

Summary: Grand
Review: Just my kind of book! and oh, how I wish I looked like the girl on the cover!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: victorian novel with modern twists
Review: Libba Bray has managed to incorporate all the great elements of a Vicorian gothic novel, using modern language and concepts while still maintaining Victorian gothic settings.

The characters are what makes this novel so engrossing and relatable. Although, as written by others, it is fairly obvious that a sequel or series is on the horizon. (Or there should be a sequel as many loose ends need to be tied up, much to the reader's frustration.)

Definitely for a wider audience than young adult, but parents should note that younger readers may encounter some mature themes - so it wouldn't hurt to preview the book before your child reads it.

I will look forward to reading more from this author and will enjoy meeting up with these characters again.
