Rating: Summary: PITIFUL PREACHERS IN THE PULPIT Review: I was appauled to read the other reviews on this outrageous book. It is the lowest epitomy of the black church and pastors. Grant it, there are some churches that have lowlife people leading the congregation, but there are many pastors that have good intention. What a pity for the author to choose to write such an unveiling story on crime in the pulpit.
Rating: Summary: Very Disappointing Review: This book is a sad portrayal of stereotypical weak simple minded black women falling for a good looking cheating man.I found no Christian message in it because all of the Christian characters were liars, cheaters, fornicators, and even murderers. I was severely disappointed in this book.
Rating: Summary: Excellent book Review: If there is anybody out there who can write just as good as Terri McMillan, it is Kimberla Lawson Roby. I ownall her books and I have never regretted buying any of her books. Ms Roby, please keep up the good work and keep these good books coming. Thanks
Rating: Summary: Add This One to Your Personal Library! Review: TOO MUCH OF A GOOD THING will not disappoint you. From the first to the last page I was captivated and enjoyed every minute. The author set this up nicely for a next ....
Rating: Summary: Excellent Work Review: The book was great from the very first chapter! It was something you could defintely relate to, it also made you think a little. Once you start reading its a hard book to put down, you just want to read more and more. Definately recommended!
Rating: Summary: Bored Stiff Review: Well I really did not feel this one. I guess I was so smitten with Casting the first Stone that I just assumed this was going to knock me when really it was a slow read. I felt like I was reading a weekly movie from the Lifetime Network station. Weak women being pushed by egotistic men that want to control. I was in the chapter of the rape of Curtis daughter and I went to a revival on Friday night and when I saw all the deacons and Pastors up front I literally got sick wondering how can a man get in the Pull-Pit and feel good about hisself. Maybe that is why it is called the Pulpit because they know they got pull ...and the pit is a play area for some (I'm just thinking out loud) Will Curtis ever learn..will God have vengence on this liar, how much sex can one really stand, how many marriages will it take...will he get ill with a disease????? Will this be the end of Curtis Black...I sure hope so.
Rating: Summary: Not enough Umph! Review: Although I enjoyed reading TMOAGT, I thought Ms. Roby could have had more flava to her writing. It was almost like she held back, and gave more along the lines of a step by step guide of the plot...but it was for the most a take-my-time-read because I already knew where it was going...too predictable. I didn't race through it like CTFS perhaps because that was my first introduction to greedy Pastor Curtis Black.
Rating: Summary: LEARNING THE HARD WAY Review: THE BOOK WAS OF EXCELLENT READING. I TRULY ENJOYED MYSELF. NOT BEING ABLE TO TEAR AWAY FROM THE BOOK. YOU WOULD THINK A PERSON WOULD LEARN FROM THE FIRST MISTAKE. BUT EVIDENTLY NOT. IT'S LIKE THE SAYING GOES MAYBE IT TAKES A SECOND TIME AROUND TO FALL DOWN AND GET BACK UP AGAIN. MAYBE SOME PEOPLE CAN LEARN FROM READING THE SEQUEL TO CASTING THE FIRST STONE. "WE FALL DOWN BUT WE GET UP".
Rating: Summary: WOW!!!!! Review: That Rev Curtis Black is off the chain. I enjoyed this book as much as Casting The First Stone. I have enjoyed your work and look forward to more and meeting you in Memphis May 10th.
Rating: Summary: Curtis, Curtis, Curtis Review: Too Much of a Good Thing was a sequel to Casting The First Stone and I must say that it was just as good! Curtis Black will surprise you over and over again with the way he runs his church! He had my mouth wide open! Money and women are his weakness! This book was TOO GOOD! The ending was just a little far fetched, but overall I rate the book a FIVE! Buy it and read about a pastor that can't say no to sin!
