Rating: Summary: A fun book Review: My kids (3 and 5) really enjoyed the silly nature of this story. They spend twice as long looking at all the details of the pictures, looking for the outrageous disasters, as they do reading the storyline!
Rating: Summary: All Time Favorite Review: I loved this book as a child and purchased it for my children. They all love it. It is one of their favorites! A must for all children.
Rating: Summary: Oh, the Weather Outside is Frightful. Review: I remember when I was in the first grade and having had this story read to us at library time. Everyone in the class loved it and every time when it snowed for the next two winters I looked outside and every once in while I thought I saw mashed potatoes covering the ground. I'm all grown up now and I still love this book, but kids still love it too. We were requested to read this about at least once a month at the day care where I worked. The story is full of imagination and the illustrations, though animated are detailed. The story is a modern tall tale and reading this book is like looking through a giant children's comic book. My favorite section is when the weather food goes beserk and there is a pickle in a living room, a noodle stuck on a man's head, a dog stuck to piece of pizza, and a hamburger stuffed atop a chimney. Stories don't get much more imaginative and creative than that.
Rating: Summary: a mouthwatering treat Review: i love this book! the first time i read this book i was abt 9 years old. my mom used to take us to the library and as soon as my brother, sister, and i hit the doors, we bolted for the childrens room. we all went to our respective corners with our favorite books, and this one was mine. i've read it hundreds of times and mostly on the floor of that library. it's abt this brother and sister who's grandfather tells them the story of chewandswallow, the town that rains food. it goes abt the business of telling how when it was that time of the day it would rain breakfast, lunch, and dinner and how they would just go outside and pick up what they wanted to eat. it also tells of how when there was something hot coming down, such as pizza or spaghetti and meatballs the people would hide inside till it stopped raining and go out with forks and plates. by the end of the book a big storm comes and forces some of the people out of their homes but it ends and everything is ok. the book leaves you wanting to go to chewandswallow just so you could eat all day. the pictures are great as well. they are barely more than pen sketches but the the illustrator makes the food look so appetizing it's impossible to resist getting hungry just looking at them. the one that always got me was the picture of the pancakes with syrup and butter. mmmm... if you want a great kids book with far out imagination, get this one! it's great!
Rating: Summary: Truly a great book for children Review: Growing up with so many different books to choose from, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs was my favorite childrens book. It is so imaginative and crazy. It got me imagining so many different things. It is a great book for children.
Rating: Summary: One of my favorite stories Review: This is such a great story. Why? Because it is creative. I bet that the author probably came up with this story as she was making a meal and wondered what happened if she never had to cook, but had someone else do it for her. She then created the tiny town of Chewandswallow, which is supplied its meals by the weather. At first, the town is happy and well supplied. But, ironically, mother nature shows who is boss and turns against the town, forcing the people to have to leave. One page after another is full of inspired creativity (The open roof restaurants, the sanitation department, the way people evacuate the city and so forth). Perfect for all ages. Just don't get crushed by a hamburger!
Rating: Summary: Hilarious! Review: This was a Christmas gift to my 6 year old last year from my sister, I had never seen or heard of this author before. My daughter loves it; so funny! Now when we are giving books as a gift this is always included.
Rating: Summary: a childhood favorite Review: I've loved this book since I was little. My grandparents had it at their house, and my sister and I would read it every time we were there. When they moved to Florida, I got the book, and now at ages 24 and 20, my sister and I still fight over it. I'm buying my sister her own copy for Christmas. It doesn't matter what age you are, I've read it to kindergarteners. Who wouldn't like a book where school got cancelled because a giant pancake landed on it?
Rating: Summary: Lots of fun...for everyone! Review: I love this book!! I read it to my 3rd grade class every year during our weather unit. It is one of their favorites. A town where the weather is food. Sounds great huh....until something goes wrong. Storms roll through bringing downpours of bad food combinations. The illustrations are hilarious. Guaranteed they'll want seconds (of reading that is)!
Rating: Summary: Classic Book Review: This is one of my all time favorite books. When the pancake covers the school has to be the best part, no maybe it's the noodle head, no the storm. Well I guess I'll stick with the school because it's closed... yeah! You'll read this again and again.
