Rating: Summary: An all-around disappointment Review: "The Blessing" does not exhibit the eloquent storytelling, humor, drama, and excitement found in the many wonderful books she has written. The story is weak and undeveloped, without any depth. The characters are one dimensional and there is nothing that makes the reader truly care about what happens to the hero & heroine. I found it difficult to finish.
Rating: Summary: Complete drivel, utter nonsense Review: This is my third attempt to review this book. There were no profanities or other guideline infractions -- I just found this book absolutely silly and unbelieveable. Was it written as a farce? The very worst book I've read this year, and I read a lot. And, puzzled over the banning of my previous reviews.
Rating: Summary: This is not a Jude Deveraux work! Review: I do not believe that this publisher thinks that a true Deveraux fan will think that this book was written by Jude Deveraux. Perhaps she wrote the first hundred pages, but beyond that, this is not her work. Where is the creativity? There is no scene discription. There is not the Deveraux style character analysis. These characters are not endearing. They have names and they exist on a page but every other Deveraux character from Gavin to Emily has jumped off the page and been "real". Do not read this book if you are a fan of Jude Deveraux. What you find in her books, you will not find in "The Blessing". I have read every book she has written at least twice. This is not her style. I was very disappointed.
Rating: Summary: It was okay...but nothing much was there. Review: This book was okay, but it just didn't match up to Sweet Liar. I thought that was the best that Jude ever did. But in The Blessing...her hero and her heroine weren't that big of a deal, and I didn't get a gut-wrenching kick out of them. They just didn't burn up the book that usually her characters did. There really wasn't any plot behind it besides Amy wanting to be independant. I guess that is a good reason...but there wasn't anything else besides that. This book wasn't bad, but it just didn't match up to her previous books. Keep trying Jude!
Rating: Summary: Not Too Bad Review: I thought that this book was mildly entertaining, but I would have to agree with the other reviewer who said that the romantic, "day-dreamy" feeling was just not there. Jude Devereaux is one of the better romance writers, but this is not one of her better books.
Rating: Summary: Jason deserved better Review: I actually liked Jason. How many Donald Trump-like billionaires (well, actually Jason was a multi-millionaire) would bother babysitting a child for weeks while his brother tried to make time with the baby's mother? How many would care that the mother existed in desperate poverty and would go to extreme lengths to try to help her quietly in order to spare her pride?Someone should tell Amy that pride is not a virtue but one of the seven deadly sins and that when the Bible says its *more* blessed to give than to receive that implies that gracious receiving brings a blessing too. (After all, how can one give if no one will receive?) But when Amy finds out that Jason is behind her incredible "luck," she throws it all back in his face and runs, taking with her the light of Jason's life, baby Max. Why couldn't Amy have viewed Jason's generosity as inspiration to in turn be generous with others instead of as some devious scheme to deprive her of her dignity? Ms. Deveraux should try again and create a heroine worthy of Jason's love. In the meantime, don't bother with The Blessing. Try A Knight in Shining Armor or Wishes.
Rating: Summary: Save your money!! Run while you still have the chance!! Review: Reading "The Blessing" left me with a general feeling of ughness that lingers even as I am typing up this review. Unrealistic plot and characters that crashed straight through the ground and past into the Earth's core. Jason (with his lion's mane of gray hair) and Amy are burning from the high temperature!! Don't save them! I, as a devoted Jude Deveraux fan for all my young years, am thoroughly disappointed.
Rating: Summary: good Review: goo
Rating: Summary: Not as good as earlier books, but worth the money Review: I've been a Jude Devereaux fan for a long time, and enjoy most of her books. This one has some really funny moments, but the endings in her last few books have been disappointing. Overall, I was pleased with this one, and would recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Don't Waste Your Time or Money Review: This book is so unrealistic and unbelievable that I didn't even finish it. I read 40 pages and that was enough.
