Rating: Summary: This is not another "Pretty Woman" story!!!!! Review: This is my first Jude Deveraux book and I am definitely very satisfied with The Blessing. I thought that it would turn out to be another "Pretty Woman" story but I was wrong. I really liked Amy's character. Her strength and determination to be able to prove to herself that she can rely on her own skills and talents to survive is to be admired. If you're looking "fairy-tale" book with a twist then this is definitely the one.
Rating: Summary: Heartwarming story Review: I felt that this book brought the 90's into persepctive. We are so busy making money as was Jason that we don't stop to notice the rest of the world. There are Amy's out there who need a helping hand. Not only in love but in friendships too. I couldn't put this book down until the very last page was read.
Rating: Summary: Great! Review: All I can say is I couldent put it down, and when I did I lost the book I ran right out and bought another copy! love it.
Rating: Summary: Out of all books I've read not one of her best detailed. Review: I collect all Jude Deveraux books and recently purchased The Blessing. I find the book does not compare to the others, I admit I am more in love with the historical books written by Jude Deveraux but, I also enjoy the more recent time book An ANGEL FOR EMILY. True the book had a little fantasy to it but it captured your heart and you actually wished you had your own angel. I will still keep The Blessing because other wise my collection will not be comlete. I know Jude Deveraux will continue to draw me in with her many wonderful romances she has yet to write, and though The Blessing wasn't a favorite of mine, I'm sure it was to someone else. Keep up the wonderful job Jude Deveraux! I look forward to the next book you write. Sincerely, Your biggest fan Nicole A.
Rating: Summary: Not heart-stopping enough Review: This book is not one with her usual style of writing. There are not enough heart stopping moments and the male and female lead seem not to be the typical kind too. The female actually cries quite a lot and the guy is should i say rather blockhead and stiff though he seems to be handsome and rich. Not a bad book for a relaxing read but dont expect to get fired up and excited over the story much.
Rating: Summary: Just About the Worst Romance I've Read Review: Seriously disappointed in one of my favorite authors. Completely flat - from character, to setting, to romance. Utterly and completely flat. The premise wasn't bad - but the whole story was rushed so much, the plot becomming more and more contrived, with no suspense and no empathy for the characters... I just can't tell you how disappointed I am in Jude Deveraux. Maybe she was just having a bad day or two (it couldn't have taken her longer than that to write.)
Rating: Summary: I enjoyed this book Review: This is the only Jude Deveraux book I've read so far. I really enjoyed it, finishing it in about 5 hours. I don't understand why so many people don't like it. I was glad when Jason started realizing that he wasn't as wonderful as he thought he was. I found the characters believable. (Well, okay, the kind of man Jason was in the beginning never would have given in to his little brother and baby-sat for a week. But the rest of it was believable.) All in all, a good read, full of humor, lessons, and easy to read.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful theme. Review: Only one other novel this summer can match "The Blessing" in evoking the power of love and celebrating the beauty of emotional bonds that can endure even the greatest evil. "The Triumph and the Glory" I found quite different in subject matter than "The Blessing", but just as powerful an emotional journey. Deveroux, et al have given us a great gift with this novel.
Rating: Summary: it intruiged me cover to cover even though it's not here bes Review: grea
Rating: Summary: okay Review: The Blessing was disappointing when compared to Ms. Devereaux previous works. I actually had to put it down halfway into it, I was so disappointed. A couple weeks later I finished it out of sheer obligation. It wasn't horrible, it was just not what I was expecting. I understand that there are always a couple of books that don't mesh well with a reader and that was mine. I will continue to read her books though because usually they are 5 stars. :o)
