Rating: Summary: A wonderful romantic adventure . . . Review: This was a great, if unconventional, love story with a beautiful setting. How often do you read of forty-year-olds and sixteen-year-olds falling in love and living happily ever after? The only problem I had with this book was that Belinda was a bit (well, a lot, actually) on the promiscuous side. Although it was a rather slow read (not because it wasn't exciting, but because the print is so small and the book is thick), it was always captivating. I liked this realistic book much more than Rice's vampire books. Personally I think she should stay away from vampires and so-called erotica and concentrate on things like this.
Rating: Summary: Loved this book Review: I know the book is a bit risque - don't try checking it out at your local library - but I loved the book. Highly sensual/sexual - but the characters are wonderful and we all know how compelling Anne is with her characters. ... exactly what I was looking for. Thanks.
Rating: Summary: I didn't expect this... Review: I have to admit it, I am a teenage boy, and started reading this book because of what I thought it would be about, an older man and a young girl being intimate. Well on one hand it was, but much more than that it was a love story, pure and simple. One thing I really didn't expect to happen, was that by the end of the book I really cared about these people. I even found myself on the verge of tears when I got near the end. I had read many of Anne Rice's other books, mainly the Vampire Chronicles, so I knew how she could make me feel about her characters, but making me feel that way in an erotic novel? Well she suprised me again. This book, along with Memnoch the Devil, one of Rice's Vampire books, are easily some of the best books I have ever read. Don't be fooled by what you think this book is about, it is truly just a fantastic work of art.
Rating: Summary: Okay, but not the best Review: Anne Rice has written much better in her time. Jeremy Walker, a 44 year old children's book author and part time artist, falls in love with Belina, and 16 year old beauty with a mysterious past. The book is interesting in ways, but Walker's obsession and [...]relationship with Belinda sometimes creeps me out. I wouldn't recommend this to someone that has a problem with that sort of relationship, like I did.
Rating: Summary: Another May-December Romance But Has Its Moments.. Review: Although Anne Rice is onne of my all-time favorite writers. I had never read one of her "Erotica" books until this one. It reminded me of Jackie Collins with much better writing of course. I felt it was too long and Belinda was rather annoying at times. Your standard poor little rich girl. However, I really liked the Jeremy Walker charactor and how he undergoes a transfomation as a result of his relationship with this perfect young thing that just lands in his lap one summer day. It's an uneven, but at times very intriguing look at an oft-written about theme. And I actually did want them to end up together. I suggest reading her other books first though as this one is not the best example of her work.
Rating: Summary: The BEST Review: Omg.. i LOVED Belinda.. i lent it a friend of mine and she "lost" it and i was so upset because i love the book.. it may be a little graphic for me but i liked the book and i just bought another copy because i like it that much... so whoever hasnt read or gotten this book yet, cuz ive gotten alot of books and not read them, but u all should read this book because youll love it!
Rating: Summary: Wow Review: I've always considered Exit to Eden (also by Anne Rice/Rampling) to be one of the most romantic books I'd ever read. I don't know why it took me so long to ever get to reading Belinda. I can't stand extremely "mushy" books; the passion in this book in terms of "true love" is just incredible. Don't let the fact that Belinda is underaged disuade you from reading this book. It's hardly a factor at all in her personality, only in the plotline, as it would be in real life.I don't usually write online reviews on Amazon, but this book was so wonderful, I feel I had to share my opinion and encourage others to read Belinda.
Rating: Summary: Semi-Modern Lolita Review: This book has been harshly reviewed but I did not find it that awful. Yes, it is a bit of a "Lolita" rip-off but Rice adds enough of her own personal touches to this novel to further itself from "Lolita". Some of the differences include the portrayl of the characters. For example, Belinda is a street smart girl who really does love Jeremy unlike Lolita who seemed to be more infatuated with Humbert rather than really love him. Jeremy, on the other hand, is very similar to Humbert simply because he is totally in love with Belinda. While I did not fully appreciate Holy Communion made into erotica, I thought it was an engrossing book. If you are looking for something quick to read, this is a good choice. Not every work of literature/fiction can be deeply meaningful or serious; some fluff every once in awhile is refreshing. Also, if you are looking for erotica, this is a good bet. Especially the scene involving red wine towards the beginning of the book.
Rating: Summary: An Erotic Distrubing Novel , not for the closed minded. Review: I personally loved this book. I thought it was well written, the characters came alive and seemed so real. What can I say Anne Rice definately knows how to spell bind her readers. She did it again with this book. Making even a disturbing issue sexy and erotic. You can't help but love the main character, even though he's supposed to be viewed as a villan in societies eyes, you can't help but root for him. I love this book. I've read it about five times. Every single time I re-read it I love it even more.
Rating: Summary: 3rd Act Problem Review: Perhaps it's just me, but I LOVED the first third of this novel yet couldn't plow my way through the remaining two thirds.
