Summary: Great!
Review: This book does not fail to deliever the goods. I was eagerly awaiting this book and was not disapointed in the least. I am hooked and can not wait for more. It is hard to keep the momentum going when you have created a cast of characters that touch you in some way. But this sequel is top notch.

Summary: The Empty Chair: A Lincoln Rhyme Novel
Review: I loved this book! This is the first Jeffery Deaver novel I ever read and can not believe I missed him. With all of the twists and turns of the characters and the story, I found myself not knowing what was true and was not which is the sign of a great mystery. Lincoln Rhyme is demanding and downright mean, yet introspective and cunning in his ability to solve this crime. He takes you step by step through the woods, analyzing thoroughly every piece of evidence, and into the true heart of the story, keeping you on the edge of your seat every step of the way.

Summary: Excellent Mystery
Review: Deaver has written another spellbinding book. I have read two of the Lincoln Rhyme books. He includes a lot of technical information and appears to have done much research compared to many mysteries that I have read. His plot had many twists and turns and kept my interest throughout. I hope to read more about Lincoln and Amelia. I haven't seen many of the Deaver books in the bookstores. After seeing The Bone Collector and realizing there were other Lincoln Rhyme books, I began searching the bookstores. Compared to other mystery writers, Deaver is an excellent author and should be more widely available.

Summary: Lincoln at his best
Review: The bottom line is that I couldn't stop reading this book. The Lincoln novels just keep getting better. READ THIS BOOK

Summary: Kudos for Deaver - Top ten finalist
Review: I had avoided Deaver's works until I recently saw the movie of The Bone Collector. I'm not sure whether it was the great casting of Denzel Washington or something else, but I decided I needed to read a Lincoln Rhymes novel. I recently finshed this one and now I need to go back and read the earlier Rhymes works. In addition I can't wait until the next one comes out. This work was definitely material for anyone's top ten list of fiction works for 2000.

The plot was great, and the book just flowed where you did not want to put it down until you were finished, and then you wish it was still going on. The technical aspects of forensics were fascinatingly handled by Deaver and the psychiatric elements were also terrific. Everything blended so well together, and it was great to read how Rhymes unraveled the many layers.

Amelia Sachs was terrific as well, and the little twists and turns relating to her psyche were developed in great terms as well. This is definitely a book I would recommend to anyone who likes a good read. It also had some great humorous pathos with some of the local characters.

I even got a kick out of his apology to North Carolinians relating to the poetic licenses taken and how he acknowledged the State as the home of the best collegiate basketball in the country.

Bring on a new edition soon, Jeffrey!

Summary: Not impressed
Review: I have to admit that my first contact with Jeffrey Deaver's work was the film version of his novel "The Bone Collector." It was not a film I was deeply impressed with, but since so many good books translate into lousy movies, when I came across "The Empty Chair," I decided to give it a chance. Well . . . I wasn't that impressed with this, either. Technically, Deavers writes well, but I really didn't find myself drawn into the story or to the characters, although the plot was certainly one of the more interesting ones I've come across. I also attempted this book's predecessor, "The Coffin Dancer," with much the same result. To me, Deaver brings the secondary and minor characters to life far better than he does his main characters, Lincoln Rhyme and Amelia Sachs. I may try to go back and read some of Deaver's earlier Rhyme novels and see if my opinion changes, but as of right now, I definitely would not recommend "The Empty Chair" to those unfamiliar with Deaver's work.

Summary: The Best Of Deaver
Review: This is without a doubt one of Deaver's best! It creeped me out within the first few pages. I will never look at bugs the same way! Wonderful twists and turns in this book. It's definitely a page turner.

Summary: Excellent
Review: I have read all of John Sanford/Robert Walker/Patricia Cornwell/ect. This was an excellent read - just when I though it was ending there was another twist. I love Jeffrey Deaver. Congratulations and this book - keep them coming!!

Summary: OK to read this series out of order
Review: This is the first Lincoln Rhyme story I've read and I wasn't a bit confused about his "history". A well-written page-turner, it was hard to put down. Liked everything about it except the use of the "empty chair" technique. That seemed a little out of place, would have liked it better if more time was spent on it to make it a little more suspensefull.

Summary: Good mystery
Review: I got impatient with the middle, so I flipped to somewhere near the end to see what happened. I think the build up was pretty well done, so many surprises at the end. One of the best and there is alot of potential for a sequel. The false leads were well developed. He makes me wonder if there were any hints early on like with Lydia. I knew there weren't with Jim. Excellent.
