Rating: Summary: More than a Chair Review: Lincoln Rhyme and Amelia Sachs are brilliant together possibly because of their respective defects. She is driven to succeed at all costs and he is cripled. They travel to North Carolina hoping to find some improvement for Lincoln in an experimental surgery and wind up in the middle of a murder/kidnapping. The setting is a small town with almost everyone there having an agenda of his/her own. The book is a great suspense read with characters that have surprising strengths and weaknesses. The ending prepares the way for a new Lincoln Rhyme book. I will look forward to it.
Rating: Summary: Deaver At His Best! Review: As a true Deaver fan, I was really looking forward to the next Lincoln Rhyme book. I was not disappointed! Couldn't put it down.
Rating: Summary: Jeffery please hurry up with the next one..... Review: It was just a week ago when I read my first Deaver novel, The Coffin Dancer, and now six days later I have finished The Empty Chair and have three more on my night table, and I can't wait to get home to get started on the next one. I have always been proud of the fact that I can predict what will happen in almost every book or movie, until I found Jeffery Deaver. Its unbelievable even with just 10 or 15 pages left he finds a way to turn the plot around and I just gaze mesmerized at the pages. The Empty Chair has more plot twists than a slinky. This book is a great combination of thrills and chills but at the same time you get to see a personal side to Lincoln Rhyme and Sachs that keeps you feeling the anxiety of Sachs and the helplessness of Rhyme all throughout the well played out scenario. Its great to see Rhyme pitted against the only human being able to match his wits, his partner Sachs. All I can say is please Jeffery hurry up with the next one, I don't know what I'll do when I finish the three that are waiting for me at home. I'm hooked.
Rating: Summary: The Empty Chair will keep you in yours! Review: WOW! Just when I thought I had it all figured out- BAM! Deaver keeps you on the edge of your seat. This is a definite DON'T MISS. I enjoyed this book so much I was sorry to see it end. If you've read The Bone Collector, you MUST read The Empty Chair.
Rating: Summary: Spine tingler of a read Review: Lincoln Rhyme is on the roll again, with a crazed phsyco killer around every corner. Just when know where this book was going, it takes a turn that jerks you out of your seat! If you can figure out the ending before the last page you are a better guesser than i am. The insects were a nice touch, though a little too reminicent of "Silence of the Lambs". His characters are unpredictable and realistic. To bad we have to wait another year or more for his next effort. If you enjoyed "The Bone Collector", buy this one. It is not your typical thriller. I also recomend: "A Tourist in the Yucatan" an excellent thriller/mystery you probably never heard of.
Rating: Summary: Jeffrey Deaver scores another hit! Review: This newest installment of the Lincoln Rhymes novels is an excellent read and if you enjoy gripping page turners and stories that have more plot twist then LA streets, then this is the kind of book you want to read. Compared to his other novels, its a bit slower with most of the plot twist being revealed in the lost chapter of the book but I guarantee you this novel is well worth the money.
Rating: Summary: Another great Lincoln Rhyme novel Review: Jeffrey Deaver has brought back the beloved star of his previous novel, Lincoln Rhyme. In this book, Lincoln travels to North Carolina to get surgery to repair his spine. While there he runs into the local Sheriff who pleads for his help. The great NY detective can't resist. Don't miss this book and if you haven't read his previous books, get them!
Rating: Summary: Deaver does it again Review: Deaver has managed to do something remarkable in modern literature: create a unique "crime-solving" team with interesting, complex characters and detailed forensic information. Whenever you read a Deaver novel be prepared for intense scene and character descriptions; Deaver definitely does his research and it shows throughout all his novels. In EMPTY CHAIR, Lincoln Rhyme and Amelia Sachs are back, and they get pulled into a North Carolina murder/kidnapping investigation. Out of their element in this strange land, Rhyme and Sachs nevertheless persevere to help local authorities track the Insect Boy who is thought responsible for some creative and vicious murders as well as the recent kidnappings of two young women. Will they track down the Insect Boy in time to save his victims? What is great about this novel is that the plot is multi-layered; don't settle in thinking this mystery is going to be neatly wrapped up in 100 pages! There are several twists and turns, and you'll be as surprised as Rhyme when Sachs suddenly seems to turn to the wrong side of the law. This novel is pure Deaver. The forensics are fascinating, and the characters are well-developed. The "empty chair" symbol takes on various meanings throughout the novel. We've waited a while to see Rhyme and Sachs back in action, and this one is worth the wait.
Rating: Summary: A good read Review: Lincoln Rhyme travels to North Carolina for an experimental operation that might improve his almost total paralysis. Luckily his mind is more acute than ever. Lincoln, and travel companion Sachs, are sidetracked into helping the local sheriff solve a kidnapping and murder. But things aren't what they appear to be. This is a well paced novel that will keep you guessing with its twists and turns. It will give you a good idea what it feels like in the swamps of NC. The characters in the book seem to jump out at you, especially the 'Insect Boy' from whom you'll learn quite a bit about insects. Overall a very satisfying read Recommended
Rating: Summary: Two day read! Review: Love Deaver...love Lincoln Rhyme...and I did really love this book. Just when I was so sure that I knew where this book was going, it took a turn before I was less then half way through. OK, now where is he going? He kept me guessing all the way to the end. The insects were interesting (kind of like "Silence of the Lambs"). His antagonists and protagonists were so totally unpredictable. The problem with Deaver is that I am SOOOO ready for his next, but it will be another year or more. If you enjoyed "The Bone Collector", you will LOVE this one. The continuing back-searching of forensics information will keep you mesmerized. Read this one. I know you will absolutely love it! So many twists of plot...so little time. It has been passed on to my best friend. I know she will LOVEEEEE it. Jeffrey, you RULE!
