Summary: Excellent Memoir by an Excellent Lady
Review: I'd had this book sitting on the shelf for several years, and (sadly) had never read it. Then, Kate the Great died, and I was looking for some means of remembering her fondly. Me eyes fell on "Me," and the connectio was perfect.

Me is clearly not ghostwritten like so many other autobiographies. Kate is rather jumpy in places and uses a lot of fragments. Sometimes it's hard to follow, especially at the beginning, but after a few chapters, it's like talking with an old friend--the abrupy subjects changes enhance, not detract, from the book.

If you're looking for insight on her movies, this isn't the book for you. She gives snippets of several of them, but only goes indepth when it really matters to her overall career (such as A Bill of Divorcement and The Philadelphia Story). She spends a lot of the book on her childhood, college years, and early Broadway stage experiences. She talks a lot about her leading men: Cary Grant, John Wayne, Henry Fonda. She mentions Spencer Tracy throughout the book, but only goes in-depth toward the end when she leaves the house they had shared together for years.
While this isn't a juicy exposee of her life, it's really more enjoyable because it isn't tabloid fare. It's high-brow, down-to-earth, and, above all, classy, the exact memoir you would expect from Katharine Hepburn.

Summary: I Could Read It Again, and Again, and Again...
Review: In her own words, in her own style, Katharine proves, with this book, that no matter what she is doing, she always remains true to herself.
Sometimes the train of thought gets a bit off-track, but it only adds to the charm of the book, and gives me the same feeling as I had when I was a child listening to my grandparents telling me the stories of their lives.
I've always loved Hepburn's characters. They are so independent, fiesty, and fun. Now I know why. She makes no excuses, or apologies, for a life that was, at the time, scandalous.
It is a must-have for anyone who loves Hepburn, loves old Hollywood, or just appreciates prose with an authentic voice.
This book is one of the old friends that I invite to coffee for a leisurely Sunday morning read-a-thon.

Summary: Interesting, yet confusing!
Review: Katharine Hepburn has three important things to say. Growing old makes your mind sharper. The author of this exciting autobiography was born in 1909, remains vital and hasn't forgotten a thing. Putting mature people down is stupid.

She learned how to make Hollywood sit up and say uncle. Her business IQ is out of this world, at least out of that world. A fabulous judge of people, including herself, and a true but cautious friend.

Howard Hughes was a decent, sane man. Very intelligent and strong-willed. Being infatuated with Katharine Hepburn ennobled Hughes, and the world has cruelly misjudged him. This book strengthens my belief that Hughes was the victim of slow-acting poison. Would make a good movie.

Summary: THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: Katharine Hepburn's autobiography absolutly rocks! !!!! Her life story, in her words, and ideas. It's funny, heartfelt, and smart. The ending with Spencer Tracy was sooooo sad. You MUST read this book if you like Katharine Hepburn or just the Golden age of Hollywood.

Summary: Katherine Hepburn: An American Classic
Review: Katherine Hepburn is a charming and delightful woman. This book reflects on the events, people, and places that have shaped her life. She is an original person who opened up her heart to write this book. She repeatedly describes her success. Katherine Hepburn also provided us with wondeful pictures of her whole life. It surprised me that she could remember everything that happened throughout her life. If any of you haven't read this book, I am recommending it to you because she is very talented and entertaining.

Summary: ah nuts!
Review: She writes like an insane person - an insane, boring person. All, 'It was fun. It was great. I liked it. The park was twenty-seven feet west of Keney Road and set back a little, veering south-easterly and almost butting into Mr and Mrs Ronald Boswell's rose garden! Then I did a perfect half-gainer and everybody thought I was marvellous. Dad put his boots on and we all had tea. What fun we had.' I don't care what sort of amazing life old Kate had, wading through her choked, stuttery prose is torturous and wearying... Then I finished the book. It was dumb.
