Rating: Summary: A beautiful tale Review: about Katharine Hepburn with her own words. Very personal and full of insights about life and how to live it. In fragments she sums up the important moments of her life and the people she befriended. Spencer Tracy is an enigma. A beautiful love story, but with the bittersweet taste of not being able to reach all the way through to the person you love. A story of a strong woman with a strong personality.
Rating: Summary: Wish I Hadn't Review: Although filled with interesting stories, I used to really like Katherine Hepburn...until I read this book. What an ego. Also, I was naively disappointed in her relationship with Spencer Tracey. How unadmirable to not divorce because he's Catholic, yet die in his mistress' home. Sometimes it's best to not know about celebrities' lives.
Rating: Summary: Me too, Katherine. ME TOO! Review: Have u ever heard the old saying, WHat becomes a legend most? I have. And Katherine Hepburn is a legend. BAR NONE! I really relate to these exciting strories. Even tho we live a wurld away and I have never been an Academy Award winning actress, I definitly felt like writing to Katherine and telling her: I understand. ME TOO! Read this book if you want to feel good and cry. And find out WHAT BECOMES A LEGEND MOST! Five Stars for you!!!
Rating: Summary: Great Kate Review: Her honesty shines through. Katharine Hepburn's life is, to borrow her word, "fascinating."
Rating: Summary: Screwy people who don't like this book shouldn't speak.... Review: I adored this book to no end and have read it about six times - I also own it. The reason that it seems so disconnected is because Kath is telling it just as she would speak it - it is not in true novel form, and as a writer myself, I think it holds up better this way. If you truly appreciate the grandeur of Katharine Houghton Hepburn, then you will love this book, for it sounds as if Kath was right there in the room, talking to you. So, for all of those who gave it a bad rap, I feel this was very ignorant on your part. Read this book!
Rating: Summary: Interesting, yet confusing! Review: I enjoyed the book very much. Ms. Hepburn's stories of her life are very interesting, indeed. The book shows that she had quite a memory; many diverse adventures; and a great love of family and friends. At first, I found it confusing when she would crisscross back and forth through years while recalling an account in her life. After a chapter or two, I became used to it!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Wonderful Wonderful Review: I know I'm quite late reading this book after it was first published but that's my stupidity as this book is one of the best I've ever read. Her style of writing didn't bother me at all as some have stated. I loved the way this book was wrote and I loved all her stories. I can see why someone would read it over and over it's wonderful. I just wish she had wrote more books. She was an amazing women!! How can you not respect, admire and be awed by her. I don't believe we will ever see another woman like her she was one of a kind. I'm quite sure I'll be re-reading this book in no time. THUMBS WAY WAY UP!!!
Rating: Summary: Kate Herself Review: I read this autobiography when it first came out & it made me wish I could know her...or move to Old Saybrook, at least. As my all-time favorite actress, Katherine Hepburn was a true original who can never be replaced. She also happened to have worked (on 3 movies) with my all-time favorite actor, Cary Grant and while most people don't think of Kate as a comedian, she was hilarious! Rent "Bringing Up Baby" or "Philadelphia Story" or (one most haven't even heard of,) "Holiday." They had a wonderful chemistry. Her book gave more insights to who she was as well as some interesting insights while making movies & the actors she shared time with. You'll never be sorry for picking this book up!
