Summary: Wishful Thinking
Review: It surprises me that so many people liked this really stupid book. Wilma is foolish, fatuous and even more shallow that a child size spoon. I found this book to be a stupid fairy tale that does not even share the category of humorous spoofs like the "Princess" series. At least those books were funny. This book is just an inane fairy tale and Wilma is just a stupid, selfish girl with no thought of action-consequence. She is a very unappealing protagonist who has not a shred of common sense. Why on earth would anybody bring a dog to somebody's house, particularly if the dog was apt to urinate indoors? That is but one example of what an inconsiderate, plodding, inept drone Wilma and those wretched girls really are. I just cannot understand how anybody could like this book. That is baffling.

Summary: Average read
Review: Nothing spectacular. As a reader who fell drastically inlovewith Ella Enchanted, this seemed like a half-baked effort, not fulfilling the author's potential. I was very drawn to the premise of the story, which is an exploration into what often is the single most consuming thing of our existence in society - and this is not just for kids - Popularity. But I felt the theme wasn't explored quite deeply enough. I felt that there were many parts of the stories which copped out - avoided a satisfactory exploration, completion. It leaves me going, so what? Judy Blume dealt with these gut-wrenching problems way better - maybe Carson Levine should stick to fairytales.

Summary: The Wishes true heart
Review: The book The Wish was exciting. If you read it, you'd see how it teaches you to think before you act or you may end up in trouble like Wilma did. I do encourage you to read this enjoyable book by Gail Carson Levine.

Summary: The WISH come true
Review: I've been a fan of Gail Carson Levine since I read ELLA ENCHANTED and her giddy PRINCESS series. Unlike her prvious books this one is set in the here and now, nevertheless Ms Levine manages to put in a touch of magic in the form of an old woman (or is she a witch in disguise) who grants Wilma one wish as a thank you for an act of kindness. Lonely, unpopular Wilma wishes to be "the most popular kid at Claverford" and ends up wondering if she really wanted what she wished for.

This is a sweet funny book that examines the road of popularity and true friendship. It touches a cord in everyone who ever longed to be popular in school. Wilma herself is a believable and very likable girl. Readers of all ages will easily identify with her need to fit in. A funny and poignant read. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Levine.

Summary: Another great book from Levine!
Review: I fell in love with Levine's first book, Ella Enchanted, and I have read every book she has written since then. I have never been disappointed! Now we get a new twist - a modern fairy tale, in a regular school with real kids, and a great main character. Wilma. You have to love Wilma. What I liked best about this book is how Wilma has to figure out who she really likes and why. Not because they are popular. Not because she is popular. But the real why. This book isn't just about "popularity". It's about friends and why we choose the ones we like. The real reasons we like them. Great Great book.

Summary: Great story
Review: It's refreshing to read a book about popularity without having to swallow a bitter moral, that popularity and integrity can't go together. I don't want to give the story away, but this is a fine, generous book, with a lot of heart and a lot to ponder once you're through. I'd recommend it to anyone who ever felt like an outcast at school, at camp, at a birthday party-whenever.

Summary: A Good Quick Read!
Review: Although I did like Levine's Ella Enchanted more, I still liked this book. It had characters who you get to know, and, although you don't always like the main character, she grows on you. I finished this book very quickly, and it has been one of the better books that I have read lately.

Summary: I wish all books were as good as The Wish!
Review: What I most loved about this book is how real it is. It may begin with a wish that grants Wilma Sturtz "most popular girl ever" status in her junior high school, but when the wish turns this duckling into a swam, Wilma remains as real and believable as they get. She wants to be liked a lot--who doesn't?--and she has to face some very hard truths about how far she's willing to go to keep her new friends. This was a fresh, funny, and multi-layered book about a compelling and important subject that all kids have to deal with in one way or another. Here's wishing for more books from this terrific author!
