Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: Have you ever met anyone and their wish came true? Well, in the book The Wish, by Gail Carson Levine, Wilma Surtz is one of the least popular people at Claverford Junior High. Wilma helps an old witch by giving her her seat on the subway. The old witch granted her a wish and Wilma's was to be the most popular person AT Claverford. In her popularity, Wilma makes new friend, but ONLY AT Claverford. Whenever she is with her friends, Wilma is popular. But when her friend introduce her to Stephanie, who dosn't go to Claverford, she doesn't like Wilma very much. Wilma even starts to have a boy friend, too. Wilma does a lot of fun things before she graduates like getting caricatures done. Then Wilma graduates from Claverfordand becomes "unpopular". Her best friends from the beginning of her popularity, Ardis, Nina, BeeBee, and her boy friend all stay her friends because she explained her feelings and they understood them. I can relate to this book because I have made many wishes in my life. My wishes have been things that I really want, NOT just a little bit. I have wished formany things, frm not having much homework, to getting something special for my birthday or Christmas. Sometimes I've gotten what I've wanted and sometimes I haven't. I believe wishes are always answered just not always the way you want them to be answered. The Wish is an excellent book. It really makes you wonder if they are worth wishing for and if your wishes are really are going to come true. It also reminds you to be careful what you wish for. Not only is The Wish a fantastic book, a thoughtful and insightful book, but a very funny book.
Rating: Summary: good book Review: this was a good book! It's about a girl named Wilma who is in 8th grade. One day she gives her seat on the bus to an old lady. The old lady gives her one wish for doing a good deed. Wilma tells her that she wants to be the most popular person at her school. At school, everyone writes her notes and about 40 guys ask her to the school dance. Wilma then realizes that she can only be popular for a few more weeks because she is graduating from her school and going to high school. Can she still be popular? Find out when you read the book! I am doing it for a book report for school. I think that girls in middle school will most enjoy it, because anyone younger does not know what teenagers are going thru! ReAd ThIs BoOk!!!
Rating: Summary: Lacks Reality Review: I picked up this book thinking, "Cool, a Gail Carson Levine book. I really liked Ella Enchanted and The Two Princesses of Bamarre so this one has to be pretty good even though it isn't a fantasy. It is by Gail Carson Levine."I was wrong. The book's well written and has a semi-interesting plot but I felt that it lacked reality. Some characters seemed believable but others didn't. The popular group for instance, for the most part they were all nice girls. That's the problem! The popular group at schools are hardly EVER nice! I should know because I'm a teenager. Ms. Levine, please stick to fantasy. You write it soooo well!!! :) I'd much rather see your new books in the fantasy catagory instead of more reality based books.
Rating: Summary: A good book, but may need some improvments Review: The Wish, by Gail Carson Levine, is about an ath grade girl, Wilma. She recently lost her two and only best friends, and is now a loner in her Middle School. One day, Wilma helps an old lady, who has magical powers, and grants a wish to her. Wilma, asks the woman to make herself popular during her school year. Wilma quickly turns popular, but soon finds the downside of the wish... The Wish overall, was a fair and simple book. It talked about the struggle of a young girl and also the fight for popularity. However, the author could have added more details to make the whole story clear and simple. I had a hard time understanding what was happening. I would reccommend this book to girls in middle school and also those who are going to go into middle school.
Rating: Summary: The Wish Review: This book was pretty okay. It's about a girl named Wilma who has her wish granted about being the most popular person at her school, Claverford. But she realizes that even though she has her newfound popularity, she will graduate and go to college in only 3 weeks. Will she be able to keep her new friends and boyfriend? What I didn't like about this book was that it was in modern times. I don't have anything agains books set in the modern times at all, its just I enjoyed her books with different time settings better than this one. But I guess if this book was set in the medival times, girls probably wouldn't be worrying about their popularity as much as they do now. An okay book, but I've read better.
Rating: Summary: The Wish, the best book ever! Review: The Wish is one of the best books I've have had the pleasure of reading. This is the second book I've read by Levine. This book has an important message geared towards teenagers. She gives a very interesting description of what it's like to be a loner. I LOVED this book and have re-read it many times. This book has encouraged me to read other books that she has written. Although, I do believe that this will ALWAYS be my favorite book. Here's my summary of the book: Wilma Sturtz is an 8th grade loner at Claverford Jr. High. One day she gives up her seat on a bus to a strange old lady. The old lady rewards her by giving Wilma one wish. Wilma wishes that she can be the most popular kid at Claverford, and the minute she walks into school *POOF* instant popularity. Over the course of time she gains new friends, a boyfriend, and a date to the school dance. But how long will it last? Do you expect me to tell you everything? Sorry read the Wish to find out the rest. I ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO READ THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Marvelous! Review: This book takes a while to grow on you. That's for sure. The 1st couple chapters are about Wilma, one of the least popular kids in her entire school. It is a fabulous book and it is apropriate in my opinion for all ages. Some of the reviews say, "too descriptive for young children." WRONG! They're is no cussing, or sexual content (although there is some brief sensuality) in the entire book. And in case you gyz havent noticed most 11 yr. olds cuss. okay?!!?!?!? Now, that that is out -- this is what the book is about: Wilma, an 8th grader has had a horrible year! Her two best friends have moved and her year is off to a pretty rocky start. She writes a story for her English class (this story is GROSS and I thik it lowered this excellent books standards.) and that story makes everyone hate her even more. So one day an old woman decides to grant her a wish and so naturally, Wilma chooses to be popular. How long will the wish last? Will Wilma keep her friends and her boyfriend even after the spell ends? Find out in this GREAT book! I think it's appropriate for kids 11 and up.

Rating: Summary: Book reveiw For the Wish Review: Cinderella's happily ever after story isn't all that happy in Wilma's life. The Wish by Gail Carson Levine is a story about how to be happy about who you are and to always be yourself. The genre of this book is fantasty. Wilma Sturtz is the main charcter in the book, and she was not popular in the beginning. Wilma was always concerned about her appearance and popularity. Wilma was quite insecure, but at the end of the story, she is just happy to be herself. The story takes place in Wilma's neighborhood. The whole book takes about three-weeks time frame. The Wish unravels on a daily basis. This takes place during present day, so you are able to relate the story with your life. What would you do if you had one wish? Wilma, the main charcter in the book The Wish, gets one wish. She gets this wish giving her seat, on the bus, to an old disguised wicth. Wilma wishes that she was the most popular girl in Claverford, her school. Does Wilma make a wrong wish? Find out for yourself when you read this book? I like this book a lot! From a scale of 1-10, I would give this book a 10. I think that girls who like a funny, modern fariy tale would like this book. The Wish by Gail Carson Levine is about being yourself!
Rating: Summary: The Wish Review: This book was a VERY good book. I read it in one day. Gail Carson Levine really explains what it feels like to be a teenager without really any friends. Here's my summary: Wilma, who is an 8th grade loner, meets an old lady on a subway and gives the old lady her seat. The old lady tells her that her good deed should be rewarded. As Wilma leaves the subway, she asks that she is the most popular person at her school, Claverford. Of course, her wish comes true. Lots of guys ask her to the 8th grade graduation dance, and all the girls want to be her friend. She gets about 40 notes in one class period, and is enjoying this a lot. She then realizes that because she is in the 8th grade, she'll only be popular for a few more weeks because she's about to graduate from Claverford and go to high school. She has to figure out a way to keep all of her new friends (those of whom she likes) and how to keep her new boyfriend, Jared, after the wish goes away. I'm sure that any teenager will enjoy this book!! It's great!!
