Rating: Summary: Nory Ryan's Song Review: Recently, I read the novel, Nory Ryan's Song, by Patricia Reilly Giff. Personally, I rated this book 5 stars because it showed how life really was for some people. She shows how life was during the depression in Ireland. She also uses impecable description. She shows the setting and charactors in a clear and well detailed way. The main charactor in the book was easy to relate to. Even I could relate to her. Nory is Irish, I am Irish. Nory loves potatoes, I LOVE potatoes. I would recommend this to 13+ and people who like realistic fiction. This book has a little bit of Gaelic in it so it may be difficult for younger children. The story and plot are believable and it's about something that happened in real life with fictional charactors. This book is enjoyable and I would recommend this book and author in the future!
Rating: Summary: Nory Ryan's Song Review Review: Samantha Maksy. 12-1-03Book: Nory Ryan's Song Author: Patricia Reilly Giff ISBN: 0-440-41829-1 "One to be sad, two to be glad, and Three to get married" that is a saying that they said when birds were flying overhead. This story takes place in 1845, and was about a girl who lived in Maiden Bay, Ireland and man named Lord Cunningham owned the village that her and her family lived in and they had to pay rent on their houses or they would be kicked out and their houses burned down. This story is a realistic fiction book. I thought this book was ok because it was interesting seeing how they had to survive but the author I think kept rambling on. She kept repeating things and would say in one sentence then would say again right away in another. People would like this book is people who like easy books and an age group of 11 to 13. I think it was a page turner because it was kind of sad how this was happening and people kept on taking things away from them and it was interesting how they survived it. I think I connected to the sister Celia because after Maggie left she had to be like the mother since hers had died and I do that for my siblings as well. A surprise in this story was when Nory had just got enough money to pay for the package from the post office some man stole it from her and she just totally forgot about and she knew she had to get back up and get on without it.
Rating: Summary: Nory Ryan's Song Review: The book I'm writing my book review about is called Nory Ryan's Song. This book was written very well and had extraordinary details. I hope many of you will read this book eventually sometime in your life. The book Nory Ryan's Song is a book about a girl name Nory who struggles every day just to find food to eat. Later on in the book it'll tell you about the horrible potato famine caused by a black mold. Where they live they have no money and barely anything to eat. Along with her family which includes Patch, Celia, Granda, Da and of course Nory. Her sister Maggie has already made it to America. Nory's old friend Anna Donnely helps them out during the whole story. Eventually Nory and her whole family make it to America where they have plenty to eat and enough money for their whole family to use.
Rating: Summary: A Real Downer Review: The setting and the times dictate that this be a sad story, but I wasn't prepared for such unrelenting sorrow and drear. Excellent writing from a talented author, but it was all I could do to continue reading, hoping for some relief, a flicker of light at the end of the tunnel. Finally, some hope arrives at the very end. But couldn't there have been a teensy bit more joy amid all the hardship?
Rating: Summary: There was a Brave Girl. Review: There once was a small girl named Nory. She was sweet kind a nd very brave. In her village there was a lady, Anna, who noticed Nory was much like her son.She taught Nory all of her cures while they were going through tough times with the rent.During this time the potatoes had rotted and there was hardly any food. They hardly even survived in the time they waited for tickets to America. You'll love this book full of adventure.
Rating: Summary: An Expression Review: This book expresses what you can accomplish with love and kindness. These people werew working hard to stay alive fo their family that cares so much. First, the potatoes go rotte, next, her sister leaves and is stuck with Patch and Anna, last, PAtch leaves to America. You would love this book to show your life is good compared to others, and you can always make it, even with some hardships.
Rating: Summary: Nory Ryan's Song Review: This book is about a girl named Nory who lives in Ireland. A famine begins and the potatoes start turning black. The English own their land and have to pay rent, but they don't have any money. They want to go to America and be free from the English. This book tells the story when the Great Hunger takes place from what Patricia Reilly Giff knows from her family's history.

Rating: Summary: What A Aong? Review: This book was about a girl?s life, and a song that she lived through or more and like her life. I liked this book because I like the way the author based the personalities of the characters and how she related these characters to other character?s in more of her other books. This book was related to a lot of other books that I have read.
