Summary: Nory Ryan's Song
Review: I thought Noy Ryan's Song was an excellent book with well formed characters. They had a good description of where Nory and Anna lived and what was happening to them with losing their food by giving it to Lord Cunningham. Patricia Reilly Giff chose good tradgedy to happen in the story. She made Nory sound like a very down to earth responsible girl who loved her family and wanted to take care of every single one of them. Anna was almost a seconed mom to Nory she took care of Nory when she split her forehead and Nory took care of Anna when Anna was sick with a fever. Nory was persistant to find a way to get food when Anna had to give her cow to Lord Cunningham, Nory got the eggs from climbing the cliffs and having Sean hold on to her with the rope to get the eggs. Anna was kind enough to take Nory and Patch in when they were told that thay were to live with Anna. Nory was consiterate to think of Anna when she got the two tickets to go to America and ask Anna if she would like to use the extra ticket that she had been given to that was origionally for Patch. I also liked how they made Nory afraid of Anna in the begining of the story and made her sound like some goutchy old lady, but in the end Nory, Patches, and Anna become really good friends. Had a very good endind because Nory had been wanting to go to America at the very brgining of the story and ending it with Nory on her way to America where she would get together with the rest of her family on a boat also with Sean and his family.I think Nory was strong and brave throughout the whole story.

Summary: IF I WAS A GIRL IN IRELAND
Review: I told my mom, ''This is my most favorite book!'' and it IS amazing. I gave it a five star rating because it kept me on the edge of my seat. I love this book because it tells what really happened in Ireland during the potato famine. Nory's family had to pay rent every 6 months. Her father was out fishing, and had been fishing for a long time. Then, the landlord came to get the rent. They had to give up their animals! She really wanted to go to America. You'll have to read the book to find out if she did!

Summary: What a Song to Live Through?
Review: Life is always hard when you know that your poor and you keep thinking what I can do to help so you can just get by. Although you really have no chose about if you're poor or rich. Some people think oh well we can get by and make a lot of money, while others say that they have to do a lot just to make a little bit of money. Well in the book Nory Ryan's Song, Nory Ryan had to help so much that she had to get up early, and she had to pray that her family's potato farm would not just go bad over night because that was her family's only source of income at that time. When she woke up to a horrid smell of rotten potato she about got sick because she was probably thinking what are we going to do to survive in the world these days. Now that the crops were bad Nory Ryan, and her family were fighting to find something to eat as well as something to drink. There were horse's that carried the milk and some small servings of food down streets to people's houses.
This book was based on historic times although it was a fictional book. This book was based on the Irish Potato Famine but being a children's book. Patricia Reilly Giff didn't think that children that would read this book would understand about it.

Summary: Nory Ryans Song
Review: Nory has hopes for her family and she wants to see them once more. She lives in this little town in Ireland,it was known for their great potatoes , but they had a situation with the potatoes. All of the sudden people began to starve and the people are just drinking warm and dirty water for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. What will happen to them? Will they starve? Will they get better?I dont know ,that is why you should read this great book.

I like this book because it is based on a real world event. I liked it bcause it wasvery interesting to know how people tried to survive in Ireland. There was a rich guy named,Cunningham. He was watching all those people straving and he didn't do a dran thing to help them. There was markets around but nobody bought anything because they didn't have any money to buy anything.

I would recommend this book to young adults becasue this is no book for kids, because it is short but kind of complicated so I think that this book would mostly be for young adults, because I think that most of them will get the message easier than kids.I also think they will get sucked by this book right away when they get it and start reading it. So I recommend you read great this great amazing book.
