Summary: Hilarious!
Review: I first read Confessions of a Shopaholic, which was a great book and very funny. I couldn't relate to some of the London references since I am from NY. But still, it was absolutely hysterical! When the second book came out - Shopaholic Takes Manhattan - I was so eager to read it! The story is so hilarious that there were times when I was laughing out loud. When you read these books, you feel like you know Becky and Luke and all the other characters. The books are well written and very enjoyable! I highly recommend reading them BOTH!

Summary: Liked it better than the first book!
Review: This was a really terrific, funny book. Other reviews have done a good job of summarizing the plot. Becky and her boyfriend Luke are moving to New York so he can set up a new office there, and Becky's shopping gets out of hand again, creating disaster. It's not a complicated book at all. But that's not a bad thing -- this is a terrific book to curl up in bed with, or to take to the beach with you. I found myself laughing out loud a great deal more than the first. Becky's attempts to sneak in her purchases without anyone seeing are hilarious, and something I could relate to. Her experience at the wedding of an old family friend was also true to life (on a bigger scale, obviously -- you have to read it to understand). I thought Becky was much more well developed and I liked her a great deal more in this book. She still lies, but somehow her lies don't seem quite as awful. She has more confidence and she takes charge of her life more -- I really liked how she handled herself when everything fell apart. I like Luke, although he still could've used more depth. Overall this was a really good book that I think most women would enjoy.

Summary: Guaranteed To Enjoy!
Review: I didn't know what to think when I first got the book but I was really happy that I did. It's been a long time since I've read something so funny. There were many times I sympathized with Becky. I'm sure that anyone who reads this book with love it. It's a great afternoon read! Definately recommended!

Summary: Even funnier than Confessions
Review: I loved Confessions, but the ending was a real cliffhanger. I wanted more of Becky. I was so glad when this book came out. I read it in one day and I am still yearning for more of Becky and Luke. ...

Summary: My future revealed !
Review: This book made me realise just how wonderful being a shopaholic can be ! I laughed, cried and tried on along with Becky. It's amazing how someone can write a book so lively and describe everything just like I'm watching a movie, while really I'm reading a book (without pictures). The book inspired me in that way, that eventhough you may have a serious shopping and budget problem, you still can have a wonderful, happy and hillarious life!

Summary: not quite as good
Review: In the first book, "Confessions....", you actually feel sorry for Beck Bloomwood (or at least, I did.) Her attempts to avoid paying her debts were amusing. In this book, however, her immature antics wear thin. There are laughs, but i was a bit disappointed in this effort. There are so many implausible scenarios, I just couldn't wait to finish and be done with it.

Summary: Hilarious
Review: This is as good as the first one. I loved Becky and Luke, they are so lovable character. I didn't agree with Publisher's Weekle review that said "the credit card and shopping bag action is wearing dangerously thin". I mean, you're in New York, what else can you do but shop? I might probably do the same thing. The ending was soooo sweet. Let's hope that Ms. Kinsella won't stop Becky and Luke's story and will make the 3rd one. I especially wait to read again about Suze and Tarquin.

Summary: I want a sequeal NOW!
Review: I've bought this book yesterday evening, and I can't believe I'm already done with it! (The next day 2:30pm.) I couldn't put it down (like most of the reviewers said), and I am IN LOVE WITH IT! Why did the story have to end so quickly?

The ending is a bit thin, with the main characters meeting up again, but it does leave room for much much more! I want to read more about Luke Brandon and Becky Bloomwood. And I can't wait to see this in a movie - who could be the perfect Luke, and more importantly Becky?

I've finished this book (I haven't had the pleasure of reading the first one, Confessions of a Shopaholic), and Luke still remains very much a person seen through the eyes of Becky. I want to know more about him! The characters are drawn so charmingly, and being a 25 year old shopaholic myself, I can't help but see Becky as an inflated version of myself. =o)

I've read the reviews here saying how it's so like a different take on Bridget Jones, but I just couldn't read about someone so desperate about men and trying to be on diet - I dare say this is much more fun! Anyhow - Becky has such a good heart, and despite overspending, she genuinely loves people and helping them. I think that really counts.

Oh god. My heart feels so warm, and a huge, big thank you to the author Sophie Kinsella for such a wonderful story! I'm hooked. Okay, I'm going for a second read now, to pick up on the finer details I missed the first time round.

This is definitely a thumbs up, and whoever said something about there's nothing of substance that it's too much of a light read - you're totally missing the point. This isn't the kind of Rich Dad, Poor Dad book. This book is what it set out to be - and I'm sure the cover illustration (so beautiful and endearing) makes it clear. I JUST LOVE THIS BOOK =o) (No offence, okay?)

Summary: How embarrassing!
Review: I bought this book with a little reservation, how could you ever follow up the first one? Well this author found a way, and it is a pretty funny one. If you like those lighthearted, dont make me think too much books then this is for you. I read it in two days and felt pretty good about it. Our main character goes into debt again, loses her boyfriend, her job...everything. She finds a way to get back on her feet and finally at the end finds something she is really good at and really likes. Whatever. Like I said it was brainless, but we all need some of those in our lives. I enjoyed it, I laughed, what more do you need?

Summary: Entirely Charming!
Review: I'm actually a Canadian shopaholic (shopaholic meets the Great White North) and for that reason alone I had to buy both books! I laughed out loud with both but I think I liked this one best. I've spent time in London (shopping, of course) but clearly I have missed out by not yet going to NY.

Even if you're not a diehard shopper, you will love this book! Becky and Luke are both lovable characters and the ending was perfect. I can't wait for more of Kinsella's writing!
