Rating: Summary: This book was written just for me... Review: This was the best book I've ever read. It was light, fun and humorous. I absolutely loved the main character, Becky. I sware she was written just for me to enjoy since I justify shopping in the same way she does. This book had me laughing out loud from beginning to end. It's I Love Lucy meets Carrie from Sex and the City. Kinsella takes you on a magical journey of shopping with out having to leave your couch or fork up the cash. I'm now reading the first one and will let you know what I think. But this one is a keeper.
Rating: Summary: Becky Bloomwood takes on New York Shopping Review: Becky Bloomwood's life finally seems to be on the upswing. She is the financial expert on London's top rated morning show, she has finally worked things out with her credit line at the bank and has her finances under control and is happily dating Luke Brandon, head of Brandon Communications and a millionaire to boot. Fans of Sophie Kinsella's first book - Confessions of a Shopaholic - will really enjoy following Becky's exploits overseas in the Big Apple. Life is perfect for Becky when she discovers, thru secondhand news, that Luke is moving to New York to open a new office for Brandon Communications. After fearing the worst, Luke invites Becky to join him and helps her arrange numerous interviews in New York. Life could not be more perfect, or could it? Becky discovers Madison and Fifth Avenue paradise, sample sales galore and in the midst of it ends up on the covers of tabloids back in London. As Becky struggles to get her finances back in order her relationship with Luke seems irreparably damaged - so she must fly home to London alone and back in debt. How will Becky manage to get out of this jam? Once again, Sophie Kinsella has written a fast paced, fun beach read. This book is a must read for anyone that has ever hit their limit on a credit card or walked past a store and bought something that caught their eye. I look forward to hearing more about Becky soon!
Rating: Summary: Becky Bloomwood is back! Review: I was so happy to see this sequel to Confession of a Shopoholic! Becky Bloomwood is truly a kindred spirit! I've missed her wonderous shopping sprees and ever so brilliant reasonings with her bankers. I was delighted to see how Becky dealth with the splendor of New York City shops. This book is even better than the first. Don't make the mistake of thinking this is just another "British-girl" book. Becky Bloomwood is truly someone special!
Rating: Summary: Rebecca's starting to get on my nerves.... Review: I loved the first book, but during the course of this second installment, Rebecca simply started to bother me. She just did some of the stupidest things! I really started to dislike her and longed for the end just to get away from her for a bit. By the end, she had, of course, straightened her life out (again), so I warmed back up to her, but I really didn't like it nearly as well as the other one.
Rating: Summary: a great read!! Review: This book might just be even better than the first. Becky Bloomwood is up to her shopping antics again but this time in Manhattan. This book is filled with funny mishaps and statements from Becky that made it a really enjoyable book. I read it in one weekend...Very light and entertaining--a great summer read!
Rating: Summary: Fantastic, Hilarious - a page turner! Review: This was the best sequel I have ever read! I think it was even better than the original. Becky Bloomwood is such a likeable character. As an avid shopper myself (although not quite as extreme as Becky) I can complete relate to the justification process she goes through while she shops. This was such a quick read. I read almost the whole thing in one day!
Rating: Summary: The Season's Must Have! Review: When I finished Confessions of a Shopaholic, I knew that I wouldn't be able to wait very long to buy Shopaholic Takes Manhattan. I had so many great feelings about this book! I was so right!!! I loved this book! At certain points I would get mad at Rebecca for all the lies she would tell people and her impulsive spending habits. After all Suze(her flatmate) would go through to help her control her spending and attempts to put Becca on a budget, it wasn't enough for Rebecca. Rebecca would always find some reason to prove she needed the item she bought. When she moves to NYC with Luke, a terrible rumor gets spread in the papers and it comes between Becky and Luke. As she tried to explain to Luke (in between his roaring), I almost felt as if I was being yelled at. I got to the point where I just put myself in her shoes (haha) and i just felt so bad for her. Near the end of the book however, she finally wakes up and smells the coffee. She comes to her senses and realizes she must pay off her debts. How she does it after being so in debt and being cutoff from overdrafts, you'll just have to read the book and find out. But when you do find, I bet you'll be just shocked as I was. I felt so proud of her. Now, about that Luke, his language could be a little less profane and that's my only complaint. I totally recommend this book to everyone over the age of 13. It's a great read and it'll keep you laughing.
Rating: Summary: A GREAT BOOK Review: This and the first book are one of my favorite books of all time. The title might through you off if you don't like shopping, but this book is absolutely hilarious, though the first, Confessions of a Shopaholic, is better. This is a story about Becky Bloomwood, who was a financial journalist turned tv financial advisor. It's amazing how she can't keep control of her own finances. This book is witty, with great situations like not having her package with her only clothes to be kept secret from her boyfriend delivered. It can get a bit frustrating when Becky just can't stop shopping, but overall a great book.
Rating: Summary: FAST READ......EXCELLENT STORYLINE Review: I waited months and months for the sequel of Confessions of a Shopaholic to come out and when it finally did in January I was excited. I read the book within 3 days because this book was such a fast read that I couldnt bare to put the book down. I wanted to keep reading and reading to fine out what was going to happen to Ms. Becky Bloomwood and Luke Brandon. The end is a bit predictable but still good! What is going to happen to Beck and Luke and what decisions will she have to make in her life to make the relationship work? You will just have to read the book and find out! I was able to relate to the first book because it took place in London and I go there all the time, but then i was also able to relate to New York since I have been there as well. Everything that was happening to Becky seemed to be things that i could forsee happening in my own life. If you are looking for a fast read and funny times, this is definately the book that you need to read! Pick it up soon or better yet pick it up today!
Rating: Summary: Even better than the original! Review: This book is just as good as, if not better than, Confessions of a Shopaholic. It maintains the momentum from the first story and takes it in a whole new direction. You are guaranteed to laugh out loud several times when reading the book. My favorite scenes are Becky's shopping excursions in NYC, which would make any woman jealous. I need to find the special trunk shows in Dallas once I'm moved in, it sounds like you can find some great deals!
