Rating: Summary: Loved It! Review: I loved this book! Hugh Prather's "THE LITTLE BOOK OF LETTING GO" is very inspiring, very understandable, and I felt it had a healing effect. I enjoyed it very much. Some of the concepts and insights help put things in a very different perspective. While there is nothing wrong with achieving goals, and having possessions, if we make having things more important than having peace of mind and well-being, then all those achievements are still empty. This book has a depth and also a feeling or quality that made me feel easier and more well in myself while reading it. It helped me Let Go! Thanks. Other books that also inspire me and have helped me to feel more at peace in my life are "THE POWER OF ONE" by Tolle; but my favorite book in the last couple years about personal growth and satisfaction is "WORKING ON YOURSELF DOESN'T WORK" by Ariel and Shya Kane. Hugh Prather, Eckard Tolle and Ariel and Shya Kane have really learned how to let go of what prevents you from being enlightened.
Rating: Summary: Very insightful look at the roots of unhappiness and turmoil Review: I picked up this book because it was sitting on a table next to the checkout line. I thought it looked interesting so I read the inside cover while I was waiting in line. I am so happy I didn't put it back on the table. This is an excellent book that shows methods which we can use to "unclutter our cluttered minds." Prather spends a great deal of time discussing the negative effects of the ego on our relationships with others as well as its effects on the way we look at ourselves. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to experience happiness in its simplest form. This book isn't just for people who are feeling unhappy or unfulfilled. The principles and methods outlined in this book can be used by all people who want to improve their lives.
Rating: Summary: Great Ideas Review: I thought this book had amazing ideas, and the approach is so simple and clear. I'm only 23 and I didn't think I had that much to let go of until i really looked more closely at my mind. I realized that lots of the problems I was having in relationships and school had to do with my past. I like Mr. Prather's approach because he's not into blame. You take responsibility for your own stuff, and you learn how to let go of the stuff that's not helpfull. I also like the imagery and the stories because they made the concepts easier to understand. Sometimes these self-help books seem like they're written for an older generation, but this one doesn't. It's funny and usefull and I think it's something I can use the rest of my life.
Rating: Summary: I've started my life over! Review: I've been trying for years to let go of a devastating breakup of a long-term relationship. This book did it! I now feel completely free to start a new relationship without any of the old baggage. I can't say enough good things about this book. It has helped me let go of a hundred little problems as well.
Rating: Summary: "God, I didn't expect to run into you here!" Review: It seems I have yet to take the book's advice to heart. I was frustrated because I took great pains to ensure the [$$$] or so I was spending would be well spent. In fact, I read the first 20 pages or so of the book before purchasing it. I was quite interested, and thought it had some potential. So I bought it, took it home, and hoped it could play some role in deconstructing some walls I had built. I curled up in the comfort of my bed, and opened the pages intent on opening myself up to new ideas and exploring new avenues to avoiding the unnecessary and pointless worry that pervades everyday life. And then on page 32, they "God"ed me. In retrospect, I should have expected a book to 'lift your spirit and replenish your soul' would have a bit of God play in it. But to wait until page 32 to bring monotheism into the mindset required for "letting go" seemed... well, misleading. I felt like my private sanctuary I had been intruded on, and was left ill-prepared to open up to their philosophies, let alone exercises for "letting go". I've tried several times since to pick up and read on, but have found my view of the book too coloured to continue reading with an open mind. Ironic, no?
Rating: Summary: We Loved the Ideas!! Review: My husband and I read this book together, and it was wonderful. We've been married for a little over two years now and we like to read books to each other. This one was very special. It was funny and right on. We take turns picking books and it happened to be my turn, and I just liked the way the book looked and I liked the title, so I bought it. My husband was like...Oh please.... but he wound up liking it as much as I did, if not a little more. He had the idea that these kind of books were really boring but we both loved it. I definitely recommend it for couples.
Rating: Summary: Little Book With Mind Altering Concepts and Instructions Review: Psychologists and psychiatrists now accept and teach that feelings come from thoughts. It's helpful to know this but it is frequently very difficult to change one's thoughts. Hugh Prather's Little Book of Letting Go is a manual giving concepts and exercises to teach us how to think in a healthy way and thus feel whole and happy. It is not one of those panaceas implying read this and all your problems will vanish. Hugh is realistic and acknowledges that all of us slip into thought patterns that make us feel troubled and anxious. His book helps me be gentle with myself and others. For those who not only read it but seriously practice the concepts, relationships and living become more harmonious and life becomes more peaceful and happier. This is a book for all ages. I have given it to several people. Two have written to me telling me specific ways that it has and is helping them.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Book! Review: This book helped me to overcome some hangups that I needed to let go! Excellent reading! The exercises may be a bit hard to remember to do unless your write them down. Otherwise, it is funny, realistic and straight forward.

Rating: Summary: Simple and to the point! Review: This book helps us understand the difference between the ego and the true self. It shows that the problems we have are caused by holding onto our selfish desires, and not caused by someone or something else. And then it helps you go through the process of letting things go. It is really a wonderful book that I cannot say enough about. If you want to know how this relates to all sorts of other things that we do, I suggest the truly amazing book called, "The Ever-Transcending Spirit" by Toru Sato. Instead of going into this process of letting go in detail, it explains all of this in a larger context. These books really complement each other. I hope you get as much joy out of these books as I did.
